I just received an e-mail from a friend who works at City Center:
"Bad news Patti is unable to participate in the Sondheim benefit."
I wonder if the same is true for the Lincoln Center version?

She better have a good reason. City Center was the first to employ her after the Sunset Boulevard incident.
That really sucks. There's still going to be some awesome people there, though!

What Sunset Boulevard incident? Please explain.
Seriously?
Patti is still slated for the May 8 Princton Gala.
It's probably just a conflict with that one day. It's not like she'll be cancelling all future performances.

Patti was playing the lead in London and was expected to recreate the role in NYC. But she got bumped for Glenn Close. It was a humiliation for her. City Center offered her Vera in Pal Joey, and she was able to return to NY in a great role.

Lansbury withdrew?! Dahhh. What's next? Cook? :c
Sondheim is bowing out also.

That same friend has just e-mailed me that Bernadette Peters is filming a movie and may have to bow out of the concert as well.

I'm so confused. How many Sondheim benefits are there???
I just went online and found the NY Phil Gala March 15-16, the Roundabout Gala March 22, and the NY Pops Tribute in November.
Which one is losing LuPone, Lansbury and possibly Peters?

Thanks, ljay.
That makes it 4 major tributes in one year? How big is this band wagon, anyway?
Not being in NY, I come to things a bit late sometimes.

Bernadette is not out. Angie may be back in. Patti is gone
How come they didn't get Catherine Zeta-Jones involved in this one?
I actually wonder how much of the info in this thread is true. Except the Sunset Boulevard stuff.

A Note To The Ever-Noxious Mister Matt:
It'll only take a few weeks to check on the veracity of these reports. Then you can judge for yourself who's telling the truth.
Well, Patti's name was already removed from City Center's listing on their website, so that at least is true.

Hahahahaha!!!!
Also, I spoke with someone at City Center also. And, as I said: Patti is indeed out (conflict with TV pilot). Angela is out as of now, but is likely to be back in. Bernadette is in.

It all depends on how the filming goes with Bernadette's movie.

I heard the producers changed their minds about having Patti perform since they were worried she would stop the show repeatedly during her songs.
