Oh come on...if you've gotten through nearly the entire first act of Baker's Wife and Meadowlark is the first time you say 'this is dumb', then you haven't been paying attention!
And I love the show! Flaws and all.

Well, in all fairness I haven't seen it.
Just have a cast recording.

I think it actually works ok in the show. Yes...it's a titch too 'on the nose'. But going from Serenade (one of the most heartbreaking moments that is musically gorgeous) to this is really very exciting.
And then Act One ends with a song called 'Buzz-a-Buzz-a-Buzz', snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

"I, for one, find the original lyrics to Proud Lady more enjoyable (if less 'real') than the revisions. "
So do I. To be honest, I'm not sure you gain anything by making the character less of a cartoon--another reeason why it prob would work best as a short, one act musical.

The girls was just gross to listen to? LOL That's gonna become one of my fave BWW quotes. 2% is about 2 minutes of one song, right?

Yes! How anyone could not have been at rehearsal and realized what a mess that was.... (PS Any Day now day is on the original cast album, so not sure how it counts as an "other" song)
