Michael recorded a single of SUNSET BOULEVARD, at Andrew Lloyd Webber's instance, to coincide with the opening of the show. He sang the song first when he was invited to Sydmonton ( ALW's private estate where he premieres his first completed scores for new musicals) to be part of the first semi-public presentation of the concept score of the show...He also sang it on his TV show (1993/1994) and made it part of a recorded concert video (The Musicals...and More).
With Michael, it's best to see him ( not just listen to him) interpreting a song such as this, as he's excellent in acting out a song as well.

Thank you for all of the info. I wonder if they will ever release the TV show to DVD like Mr. Crawford's "Some Mothers Do Have'em"? I would like to see it.

*grumble, mumble under my breath* Nothing like rubbing it in, seeing as it doesn't look like I'm going to be going to England anytime soon and he won't come to the US.
What's that, Jo? Did I SAY anything? Na, not me!
Well, there's always this weeks radio show! I'll be home in time to catch it tommorow!

When Chitty transfers over to Broadway the shoe will be on the other foot then :) if Michael does make the trip I suspect that's
when he'll do a concert or two but.....don't hold me to that,it's
just a guess.
Enjoy the broadcast,Hairspray tonight.

just found out you can listen to it anytime you want on the net. Just point and click! I just finished hearing it! How cool! I love technology! I hate this soon to be replaced pile of junk of a HP computer but I love the net!
Hairspray sounds like fun. One I'll put on my list to see when it comes to town.

Yes, thankfully, the BBC site does allow repeated listenings. I missed part of the Hairspray commentary, so I'm glad to have a chance to listen again.
I was interested in the talk about Thoroughly Modern MIllie. I loved the movie, but wasn't sure about the play. After listening to the radio show, though, my interest is piqued.
Next Week's installment... Man of La Mancha.

something about BEING on Broadway in 2003?

technically speaking "on Broadway" when he taped the beginning part of the show -- and it is 2003! :)
I know, that isn't what you meant. But it's not very likely, right now. I believe if he were going to be there something would have been said by now, and there hasn't been anything. I think the new CD is going to take up a lot of his time post Chitty.
