Has anyone else seen a production? I was lucky enough to see an excellent local performance today and it's one of the few times I've cried during a show. Updated On: 12/4/04 at 05:34 PM

I read it and I saw a movie that was based on it. Rather than just a film of a performance, it was about a high school where they were performing the play, and where there were rumblings of those kinds of incidents. Really incredible stuff.

What is the movie called? I'd really like to see it.

The 'heart that nobody knows' bit got annoying after the first fifteen times, but the rest was very powerful. I held it together until the end. Some people around me were flat-out bawling. And the kid who played Josh was just fantastic. Watch your back, Raúl...

I'm pretty sure the movie has the same name as the play.

I starred as "Josh" in this show, and the following year I student directed it.

It can be a very moving piece, but it can also easily fail and become very cheesy and lame. You need good acting and directing for this show.

The movie is intense. It was nominated for EMMYs. Nearly pissed my pants.

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

This was done very well, it was an area thing so kids from all over tried out. The set was nonexistent, save for a black box that was used as a bed and a few other things. I liked the minimalist approach.

When you say you nearly pissed your pants, is that good or bad?

Ben Foster played a kid who tried to blow up the school once, but failed. and now everyone hates him and calls him "terrorist" and make his life miserable. and the drama teacher has him star in the play as Josh. And in the end he saves the school because some kids were going to have a shooting in the cafeteria but he stopped them and got everyone to safety. Then he did the play and everyone loved it and it was like the barrier that was between him and everyone else was broken. it was in all a good movie with some cheesy moments but some great acting (especially from ben foster)

I saw a bit of the movie, never the play, but I have been turned off of it. My friend was playing Josh (they switched the male and female roles) in a local theater production, and all she did was reference it. For three weeks, she was all, "It's perfect- I completely understand Josh and why he did that!"

I only shut up and thought "Yeah, yeah- you and your little drama attempts. I'm sick about hearing about that hit list and why you hate everyone"

You know, the characters that Josh killed said something similar. Hm.

You could've tried listening to your friend. There's a reason she raved.

I just checked blockbuster.com, there's no store in my area that carries it. re: Bang Bang, You're Dead

Som, I would listen to her, and I'm not denying that the play is great at all. It's just that when we talk about BBYD it ends up with her raving on about all the stuff she did.

Is she raving about the show or herself? That's two different things and I'm not sure what you're trying to tell me.

She starts raving about the show and then she starts raving about herself. Sorry bout that

This show is AMAZING. I definetely cried!!

The year my sister was in it, there was a girl in Drama who's mother had just died. This girl specifically asked NOT to be cast as the Mother in the show because she was still grieving...and what does our Drama teacher do?? CASTS HER AS THE MOTHER! Is it just me or is that really messed up??

Fabala, give it a chance. Don't let one person ruin it for you.

Everything, she could've always just not accepted the role. It is sad that your director didn't respect her wishes, though.

Oh, I wasn't in the production. And I am trying to give it a chance, I've just never heard about a recent production in my area.

I've seen the play done at my school for our annual drama fest last year. I like the play and I think it's a good piece it's just that that play is entered into Drama Fest every five years or so and always wins awards at the end of the week. It always makes it to Best of Fest. I do think it's a very movin piece though. Just at my school a little bit overdone.

I played Josh when the local youth theatre did it. I was suprised when I saw the movie after, I thought it was great. And Randy Harrison was great, too, don't foget he was in it. re: Bang Bang, You're Dead

I was in this play two years ago. I played Katie, Josh (the killer)'s ex girlfriend. This play was extremely emotionally moving, and was even hard for me to do. Every night we had a full house and the audience left crying.

The movie is also titled Bang Bang You're Dead and is about a highschool putting the play on. That movie made a big impact on me and I will never forget it. I think everyone should see it or the play.
