Isn't the "Shut up and sing" thing getting old yet?
After paying $1500 a seat at her last "final concert tour" in 2000, I figured this time around I'll wait for the inevitable CD. And for the record, it was glorious - just Streisand, no one else.
Didn't Linda Rondstadt get kicked out the LV Hilton for making some political comments?
I'm with FrontRowCenter. I've seen her three times in recent years, and there was too much 'filler' and song's she's performed dozens of times before to tempt me to spring for a ticket - and the TIMES review confirmed my feelings about Il Divo especially.
I'm looking forward to hearing "An Unusual Way", "Cock-Eyed Optomist" and especially "My Shining Hour" on the inevitable CD.
Love her to bits, but I don't care if I ever hear her sing "People" again.

I can't wait to watch The View tommorow cause apparently they're going to be talking about the heckling.
Rentboy, I already have my tape in the VCR for these soon to be classic moments curtesy of The View.
oy vey. it was an amazing concert, worth all $750, and all people want to talk about is a brooklynite saying the "f-word"? this is news? she straying from the teleprompter and shows a true human moment, and she is condemmed. more negitive publicity. i don't understand it, and i never have, why the media wants to make her look like an ass clown. is it because she is a powerful woman? jewish? they can't take it that a performer has a brain, and a heart, and doesn't step down when someone- be they a heckler or a director- tries to talk down to her? what no one is talking about is her speech on peace and unity, and that we're not democrats or republicans or from red or blue states, but that we're all part of the *united* states. it was very nice. she said some lovely things that no one can really argue with. but that's not news, is it? that's not news. no one wants to hear that Barbra Streisand, evil liberal jew from osama's homobortionjizzporium, wants unity. or that she sang "you've got to be carefully taught/children will listen" dedicated to parents. she looked beautiful and sounded beautiful. she was graceful and brought tears to the eyes of many.
but what's really important is that one person heckeled way past the appropriate time, and she told him to f--- off.
feinstein9 - you are absolutely correct.... If she wasn't heckled, she wouldn't have amde the news at all I'm sure. And she did have alot of good things to say which were ignored by the press.... The guy is a jerk.
Excellent concert! Glad I went...

"i don't understand it, and i never have, why the media wants to make her look like an ass clown."
Simple.
She gave her enemies a club to beat her with. And they used it.
All I can say is - I've wanted to see this woman since I was "a wee wain", I go in a week, I'm beside myself!

Seems to me like Barbara can dish it out, but she can't take it. Hey, what goes around, comes around.

I DETEST THIS WOMAN! BUT... You go girl! She has the right and freedom to do whatever skit she wants on stage.
Well lucky for us on the East Coast, instead of The View, we got Shrubya. So, if any of you on the West Coast saw The View, would you please post what they said on the subject. Curious what Walters' impression was. And both Rosie and Barbara were seated in that area--I imagine they may have an interesting persepective.
Damn that President of ours decided to have the only 4th Q&A press conference of his horrible reign of terror, during the hour the View was supposed to be on.
I went to the Philly Babs concert. Although the George Bush thing was entirely too long at about 10 mins, no one heckled her. She just didnt get a huge applause at the end of the song.
I wouldn't be surprised if she cut back on George a bit. Last night I met someone who saw the dress rehersal and he said it was 15 minutes longer when she first performed it. Plus Il Divo performed 6 songs, not 4 like he observed on Monday at MSG.
Rosie was sitting in the center orchestra (2nd or 3rd row, I believe). I don't know where Barbara was sitting. The heckler who Barbra told to shut up was sitting upstairs, in back of Barbra, to her right (literally as well as figuratively!)
So it was someone in the cheap seats? Ironic.
She should cut the George Bush thing. It sounds stupid.
Oprah and Gayle at a Streisand Cincert?
That will stop those nasty rumours.
Anyone think it strange Bush decided to talk just when they were gonna talk about Streisand on THE VIEW?
He is so childish!
Probably told those Koreans to drop that bomb so he could upstage her.

Michael Bennett is right. As convinced as I am that Streisand is our greatest living performer, the Bush thing is beyond stupid.
The most unfortunate part of the whole skit is that she parodies her iconic duet with Judy Garland--Happy Days/Get Happy with the Bush Impersonator. It really marrs the legendary status of that magnificent performance.
Ultimately, whatever. She is Barbra Streisand.

Right on Barbra! I am sick of these neo-con illiterate idiots, spouting the "party line", with typical, out-dated taunts that they think are "political" biggies. GROW UP you morons!! Well, actually, with their Role model in the whitehouse (the biggest moron yet) what can one expect?
