Great concert - what a voice! Could have left out the political part with the fake George Bush, but it was entertaining (to me, anyway). Some very rude audience members, though.
She did tell someone in the crowd to "Shut the F... up", but they did deserve it too.... She apoligized later in the show, saying she shouldn't have lost her temper.

It made the Today show thisa.m., her use of "the F bomb." Watch, this will be turned into a Whoopi-like issue, and she'll be reviled for her Hollyweird elitism.

I bet the Bush stuff was annoying ( and I am certainly NO supporter of him!)and if I paid $750 for tickets I don't know if I'd appreciate it either! Still that's no right to heckle...
I also heard the sound was awful for the first half. That would drive me crazy.

Had I paid 750$, I would've been furious. They went to hear her sick, not to hear her political views.

i would've loved it if i heard her use the F-bomb :) i think that would've been worth the price alone!
Well, she was never known for her class. If someone was offended to hear her use the F-word, then they don't know her very well.
What is sad above all is that they don't mention that the crass right-wing neo con plant at the Garden called her a Communist.
And if someone called me that-- for expressing my displeasure at the job performance, lack of leadership and bold false lies being told by the man now living at 1600 Penn Ave, I would have said what our Barbra, did if not more.
An artist does not give up their right to their views because of their art.
This is still a free country...I think.
of course if you went to a Bush rally, you would not find a heckler.
WHY?
Everyone present must sign a loyality oath.
That sounds like the Nazi Youth movement to me!
But then again I'm one lone proud gay liberal in Florida, so they probably have a camp ready to lock me up at.
SING PROUD BARBRA ! SPEAK PROUD BARBRA !
Let freedom and diversity ring!
They went to hear her sick (sic), not to hear her political views.
For pity's sake. It's Barbra Streisand, and the concert was promoted as a fundraiser for progressive causes. Anyone who went NOT expecting to hear some political talk is an idiot.
And if any right-wingers try to make an issue out of this, she could just say she was channeling Dick "go f*** yourself" Cheney.

So thats what he called her....a Communist. A lot of people were wondering. I thouht she said that he screamed "I want my money back" after she sang that BEAUTIFUL version of "I stayed too long at the fair".
The really sad thing is that the only thing people will talk about/remember was her saying the F word...when they should be taking home with them the fact that she was in really great voice and the the show itself was wonderful... it was just her singing...no videos or tricks. I could have done with 5 mintues less of the bush stuff (it was uncomfortable as the crowd turned on her...but i think she loves that too..and she was in control!) I also did not like Il Divo...people shouted "bring back babs"...hahaha...but yes, that was an exceptoinally rude audience.
If you all can - GO this wed...it's worth it.
oh and almost every seat in the house is great...so go...especially the "youngins" on the board...go see her...i went to see the "timeless" tour in college and never forgot it.
Luckily they heckled Babs. Bush will have you arrested if you heckle him.
Truly. And I mean, if I went to a Charlie Daniels concert, aside from the fact that hell would be freezing over, I would expect to hear his right-wing diatribes. Obviously, these people showed up just to cause trouble.

Well said PurdyBacall. I think the heckler was beyond rude and I had no idea he shouted "Communist". I'm glad she struck back.
Seeing Streisand live is truly mesmerizing and an experience I will not soon forget.
In Philadelphia she had a heckler as well.
Is it a 'plant'?

The New York Times reviewed Barbra's concert in New York last night. I agree so much with every word it is like I wrote the review.
Unlike her last two concert tours (1994 and 2000)where every moment was brilliant, this one did have a few missteps. Primarily the biggest two mistakes were Il Divo and the Bush impersanator. I would rather have heard Miss Barbra sing with just a piano the whole evening than to have sat through those painful moments.
Il Divo might be fine on their own, but cannot match the glorious splendor and brand of electricity that Barbra possesses. They were just so out of place, and their voices at the Garden did not blend. When they sang a few songs without Barbra, I just longed for her return (yes, much like Rosie has stated on the View).
And the Bush impersonator skit went on way too long. I don't like when a beautiful piece of art such as a Streisand concert is marred by a long interlude of politics.
All the negative being stated, when Streisand sang--she SANG. Her talent is really massively unfathomable. She may not be able to hold the notes as long, or belt as high as even ten years ago--but when she opens her mouth--Heaven Escapes. Her stage presence not only fills the Garden, but all of New York is overcome by it. She really is astounding, and so happy that I went.
Her voice sounded especially beautiful on the slower numbers--Have I stayed too long at the Fair?, Children will Listen, Unusual Way, What are you Doing for the Rest of your Life?, and Shining Hour were all so incredibly gorgeous. I liked these songs even more than the "belt" numbers. I love that she concentrated so much on her Funny Girl music--that was a true gift.
Anyway, here is the link to the New York Times article which basically states what I did above, but more eloquently:

I knew " ILL DIVO " was a mistake. I can't stand them. Is it true they dedicated a song to Rosie?
It made CNN's website:

Why is this such a big deal? It's a concert, get over it. The Divine Miss M. drops the F bomb at least 10 times a show AND is as political as all get up. I'm no fan of Babs but I don't know why people are making such a big deal out of it. Right on Babs, anyone going should know she is an outspoken democrat and if you don't like that, then don't buy a friggen ticket.
It was an amazing concert. Yes, she dropped the F- bomb. Yes, it was awesome. The only downfall of the debacile is that she apoligized. If someone is going to go all out and use that langauge then why apolgize for it. It made her look foolish.
Also, I wasn't feeling Il Divo or the George Bush impersonator last night either. Especially for me who considers the song to be sacred and being an avid Judy fan, it was heartbreaking to see her use that song for political satire.
Overall, definitly worth $104.
Calvin--you rock.
It's her damn show. People only complain when they disagree with the view and/or don't want to think.
It was definetly worth going - my wife said just hearing her sing "People" was worth the price of admission.
I didn't hear exactly what the heckler said when she replied directly to him, but earlier than that some very rude hecklers were also calling out inappropriately.
He deserved the comment, and she only apologized for losing her temper....
One of the questions (people wrote on cards) she answered had to do with why so many gay people supported her - she just sortof indicated suprise and that she was glad they did!
I thought Il Divo was prettty good actualy, and well integrated into the show - especially with the "Phantom" song....
Lots of well-knowns there - Oprah (front row), Rosie (yes, Il Divo dedicated "My Way" to her I believe), Bette Midler, Tony Bennett, Al Sharpton, former Mayors Dinkins and Koch, and Geraldo to name a few... Probably many others I didn't recognize.

No, it made her look gracious and mature--she obviously regretted her loss of control as an adult would.
