She and her mother had a terrible falling out. Though apparently there was some sort of reconciliation before the woman died. Still, they were never close, and her mother was not exactly that nice to Barbra when she was growing up. If I were her, I probably wouldn't have gone to the funeral either!
At least the dog was loyal.

I've taken her to task many times, but I'm totally in her corner with her re: her grief when her dog died - as opposed to those who believe one "should" feel worse when ones mother dies.

It's true, dogs become members of your family. I would seriously be a mess if anything ever happened to my 2 dogs. Not that people should grieve longer over an animal dying than a close family member or friend; but anyone who has a dog will probably agree that the dog can be their best friend (the saying is true).

It's like, hmmm My Dog (who I've seen every day for the past 14 years or so, and has been a loyal companion) compared to my mother who constantly insulted me growing up, who I didn't even speak to for many years, who now has alzheimer's (which would be a guilty and non-meaningful cause for 2 people to reconcile).
I can totally understand where Barbra was coming from.

Zany, wierd or whatever you are any one may think. This is the greatest performer of all times. The most talented PERSON to ever grace this earth.
I may not approve of her politics, but I live by this notion.
Barbra Streisand is off limits, leave her alone, because we all love and adore this woman.

Ah, Barbra – now there’s a topic. I’m a big fan of early Barbra. At the time she hit the radar screen, she was a true original – singing off-the-wall standards, her whole persona.

But then, as Sandra Bernardt says in “Without You I’m Nothing”, she went down to Stoney End and crimped her hair. The years of Barbra trying to be a rock singer were painful. I also think she started to believe her own publicity, and has become one of the most arrogant performers we have, i.e. making a big announcement that she would no longer do concerts after her “Timeless” run in Vegas. Well, good god, Barbra, we survived 30 years without any live appearances from you, you grace us with maybe 15-20 concerts, and then it’s BIG NEWS that you’re retiring from the live stage? In my book, you retired from the live stage years ago, and your recent live appearances were nothing but stunts.

That being said, however, she IS one of the most talented women in show business. Ever.
