re: Bare at the Bailiwick (Chicago)

It sounds insanely interesting - wish I could see it.

re: Bare at the Bailiwick (Chicago)

It had a successful limited run Off-Broadway. It was supposed to go to Off Broadway but, if I remember correctly, an investor pulled out and it fell apart. I was lucky enough to see it when it ran in New York. Here is a review. I am sure if you do a search on this site, you will find threads on it. Also try google and you will come up with stuff. Good show and great music. There is also a sampler cd of some of the music out there. Not sure if it is still available.

Actually, it ran Off-Broadway. It was scheduled to move to a bigger Off-Broadway venue, but funding fell through.

In the Wikipedia article (under "Bare, A Pop Opera"), there're links to both a site that grants the license for the show and also to a Myspace with a few of the songs. It sounds AWESOME.

So many great names were in this originally, I only wish I could have seen it. Jenna Leigh Green, Adam Fleming, Natalie Joy Johnson...yes, wonderful actors! And the music for this IS great. I have a sampler. If someone wants it, PM me.

I am obsessed with this show. It's so moving. What a brilliant story as well. The score is fantastic, and the cast is to die for. I never got the chance to see it live, but let's just say that you should PM me.

Our university tried to put it on, but the rights were INSANE! Like 10,000. It must have gotten better.

Does this place do good shows? If I am traveling to Chicago to see it, it better be AMAZING.

outovfashion:

Bailiwick is a non-Equity company in it's 25th year of operation in Chicago. I've found them to do consistently strong work, especially with musicals. They also did the Chicago premieres of PARADE and THRILL ME, as well as productions of KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN and MY FAVORITE YEAR, all of which I found to be uniformly excellent. Currently, they're performing the US Premiere of JERRY SPRINGER: THE OPERA, which got rave reviews as well.

So I think it bodes well for their success with BARE. Link below to the page with review clips for SPRINGER (same director as BARE, artistic director David Zak). From their, you can explore everything else...

I'm estatic that Bare is getting out and about... I adore this show.

And to whomever it was that posted the names of famous performers in it (I'm sorry, I can't remember who):YOU FORGOT MICHAEL ARDEN!!!!!!!!!!
I love that man.
If he weren't gay and in Europe, I would molest him right now.

re: Bare at the Bailiwick (Chicago)

uncageg- Yeah, I know the show, thanks. Haha.

alliez92092- Adam Fleming was in the ensemble in "Wicked" in Chicago. I stagedoored and then called out his name and asked for a picture. He was kind of surprised that anyone know who he was. I told him that I absolutely loved "bare" and he asked if I had seen it in New York. I gave a shy little smile and said, "No. . . Just the bootleg." He smiled and said that he had seen it and that it was poor quality and he wished I could have seen it in New York. Haha. Love it!

Oh, god, that's so adorable! I loved Adam as Boq in Wicked too. He was great as Lucas, though. Just great..
And the bootleg does kinda suck.. I bet the show would've been so much better.
ps, do you know where I can find a video of Bare? I had one, but then I switched computers and mine won't play it. re: Bare at the Bailiwick (Chicago)
