Sorry if this has been asked....but.. I'm auditioning for miss Saigon in about 2 weeks, have any good auditions songs for me? I'm a strong high baritone, with about a A flat to a E sharp range.... have any Ideas?
I was thinking Halloween or Santa Fe from Rent.. but I was just gonna se if anyone has any other ideas!! Thanks!!
I'm not really sure about your range, because...yeah. blah.
But some songs I've been enjoying ALOT lately are songs by Josh Groban. Mi Morena is a nice song.
I only suggested him because I heard somewhere he's a baritone.

I would advise against singing Josh Groban for your audition. You want to sing a musical theatre song for a musical theatre audition.

Thanks.. but I THINK** he is a Tenor.. his songs se a little too high for me. but thanks for your help!!
Well, he started out in musical theatre, then became a recording artist, all that jazz.
I donno. I might've also been biased because I was currently listening to him.

No, Josh Groban has said that he is a baritone. He is a high baritone, but a baritone nonetheless.
Yes, aigoo, but since they are looking for audition help, I made sure to steer them away from Josh Groban. None of his material out right now is musical theatre style.

Joshua, did you change your avatar? I remember seeing a picture of something else. Warrick Brown from CSI, possibly? It was sort of pixelated and I couldn't tell.
I lurk the boards...shh...>___>

Yes, I changed my avatar.
No, it wasn't anyone from CSI. It was a different picture of me. LOL
::coughs, chokes and dies::
I hate when I assume things. I only make an ass out of myself, really.
I am a Barritone and I have a wide range of audition songs, but most go to a F or G. Some of my favorites are
"This is the moment"-This is a bit overdone, but when performed correctly will wow you auditors. I usually start on "This is the moment, when all I've done"
"If I Can't Love Her"-Absolutely beautiful song. I start on "No spirit could win me..." and go to the end.
"The Kite" a fun song that shows your comedic side. I usually start from the begining.
"Man of La Mancha"- Once again a popular song, but it shows your voice.
thanks for the help, it was highly useful
Glad I could help.
If you have any other questions feel free to PM me.
the impossible dream and johanna could also work (although the latter may go too high for you, i'm not always the best judge because i've exanded to a tenor range lately)
jonart- recently I have also been extendin my range, and "Impossible Dream" is really coming together nice for me. "Johanna" still gets a few squeaks out of me though.

You aren't auditioning for Plays-In-The-Park in NJ by any chance, are you?

Broadway-bound, you're auditioning for MISS SAIGON. Style is a primary consideration. Audition with a contemporary/pop musical theatre song only, not legit. I recommend SANTE FE from Newsies (not Rent) which is age-appropriate, actable and full of youthful ardor. It goes from c below middle c to f above, with some impressive interval leaps.*** As a "16," you can start it right after the dance break but cut the tag about the family and jump right to the end.
PM me if you need more info.
*** I originally posted that the song spanned an octave which was an error on my part.

I've been told NEVER to sing Rent for a musical theatre audition....so I guess I wouldn't advise that.
My audition song is "Proud of Your Boy"...cut from Aladin (see Disneymania 3 cd). It's a good kind of rangy song...
what about "what do i need with love?" from thoroughly modern millie? it might get into the tenor range (i think it ends on a G) but it's a good song none the less!
Why not sing a song from Rent? It's better than a boring old song from Oklahoma.
Wow... Judas... Rodgers and Hammerstien are going to rise from the dead and beat you with stalks of corn for that comment. Oklahoma is a wonderful peice of theatre and will always forever be remembered as one.

why not sing "what is it about her" from lippa's wild party. i love that song. Not sure if its baritone or tenor. ppl always consider me baritone but i can sing up past an Ab...so i dunno.
