Do celebrities tend to favor one side of the stagedoor barricades over the other? IE Do they tend to go for the one facing how the door opens or do they zig zap between sides/areas? And, when a car is waiting, do they tend to move rather quickly?
I was told that last night, after Barefoot, Patrick Wilson came out and signed a few autographs for one side of the barricade but didn't come to the other side and then got in a waiting car.
I need to plan effectively for my stage door experience.

Posted: 1/27/06 at 8:36amIt's probably a luck of the draw thing...If the actor has been having a long day and is tired, they will probably just sign a few quick autographs for the people closest to him and then leave. I have never personally heard of actors favoring one barricade side over the other, but then again, I don't stage door, so I'm no expert.

It's all going to depend on the individual and how much time he/she has. I remember my visits to the Imperial stage door when Hugh was doing BFO, he made sure he did BOTH sides of the barricades.

Posted: 1/27/06 at 9:32amlike people already said, it's pretty much luck of the draw. when i've been to stagedoors sometimes the actors stay for a really long time and then walk down the street with you for 10 minutes (we <3 telly leung!), but sometimes they just sign 3 or 4 autographs and then leave. ana gasteyer was wonderful on her last day of Wicked in Chicago, she stayed and signed so much stuff for the like bajillion people that were waiting outside. kate reinders, too.

Please don't take this as rude, but I think you can just figure this out yourself. Actor walks out of stage door, actor walks forward into crowd of crazy people and signs some things- pausing once in a while for a picture. Actor probably isn't thinking "I really like this side, I am going to always only sign and take pictures on this side." Said actor is more than likely thinking "Mmmm I can't wait to go get some tea and lie in bed, or better yet watch comedy central!"
As actor thinks such thoughts, he or she walks in whatever direction gets them home, if they are in a particularly good mood they might stay and talk to everyone! If their bed or partner is calling, they might just be very quick about it all and stick to one side or one person.

bdwaygirl...
I think everyone that night should wear an "I'm beacon1" t-shirt just to throw him off.
Poor Mister Wilson with that standing order for the butcher's shop to deliver a fresh container of lamb's blood to the Cort theater each Tuesday morning.

Posted: 1/27/06 at 2:39pmBeacs, I too have heard that Patrick is incredibly nice and normally will sign for everyone and take his time. I've never really seen a sign favored, usually I just pick the one where I can be closer to the front. If it's equal in both, then maybe the door opens to one side so on the other side I can see the actor when they first come out--it's only a couple seconds difference, I mean I don't really think this is something to really concern yourself w/--my advice is just go where you could get the best spot.

Posted: 1/27/06 at 4:37pmwhat about Amanda Peet? and usually most actors go to both sides and sing, I bet he was in a hurry or something major was going on. Most actors greet and sign for everyone.
