He REALLY reminds me of some of the Priscilla ensemble members! Too sluty for tick, and too old for Adam!

I don't have any plans to see La Cage with JB in it, but I wouldn't count it out either. He doesn't look like a slightly-gone-to-seed female impersonator which is how I think Albin should be portrayed, but maybe they'll do more to age him up / pad him out.

He'll have a tough act to follow in Roger Allam though - have seen him twice now (once with Philip Quast, once with PQ's understudy) and he was sublime. I never saw the much-praised Douglas Hodge in the role but can't imagine he was that much superior to RA. I actually didn't mind the occasional flat note in 'I Am What I Am', it was the emotion behind the words that made it so powerful. And the variety of mannerisms, facial expressions and voices in 'Masculinity' alone had me crying with laughter. Am thinking of making a return visit on RA & PQ's last performance before JB takes over...

Assuming I'm looking at the same ones as you, I don't think these look as bad as the others, but still not Zaza. The wigs/frocks would be great for a Cagelle, but he just looks too young!

P.S. The ones I'm looking at are on someone's private Facebook page, which is why I'm not posting them.

Mama, I think you're right about the costumes - they were certainly rather decrepit and missing half their sequins and stones. Some of the birds' tails had been hastily repaired with cheap rainbow feather boas. The decrepitude was somehow charming, though - gave the costumes a real sense of character.

No, they are not the original costumes in any shape or form.

Yes, I know as I'm sitting here wearing one of them now.

Just read the programme, we did have the Palladium costumes.
