That is top secret info and I signed an agreement stating that I wouldn't discuss it or the other 'tricks' in BATB however, when it was playing at The Palace you could see it very easily from the top balcony.

In the West Wing, there is a slit in the castle wall. This slit has a track inside it that lays flat on the floor. The Beast lays on it and during the transformation, the bar rises upward. It's VERY easy to see from the front row...

Harvey Fierstein hauls his ass over from the Minskoff to play the Beast double so that the real guy can get his beastly makeup off.

When i did we just had a double that would fight with gaston while the realy beast with no makeup would be on the other side of the west wing getting hooked up to fly. They did it really well. You could not tell that there was a double.
