I am such a fan of Bebe Neuwirth! Does anyone know what she's like in person? I've met her twice. The first time she was really sweet and the second she was really really mean. I wondered if she was just having a bad day or if it was usual for her to be like that.
She's pretty aloof. It all depends on the day. She can be the sweetest person on Earth or a nightmare. I'm a huge fan. Have always loved her.
Twice she was nice, the rest of the time she was bitchy.

I'd heard that she absolutely refuses to take photos with anyone, but when I asked she said 'Sure!'.
I guess I must have gotten her on a good day.
She comes off as a very private person. I found her to be exceedingly nice on the two occasions that I've met her.
I adore her. I'm going to see her in "Here Lies Jenny" in SF.
HERE LIES JENNY is brilliant. I saw it three times in NY. She and Ute Lemper are really the foremost Weill interpreters around.

I can't wait to see this show in SF as well! I love Bebe; it's not just the voice, it's the whole package...dancer, singer, actor (she's even great on Law and Order!). I don' care if she's mean or not....I'm buying my tickets next week!

You definitly should, the show was amazing and so is Bebe. I was most amazed from her dancing there are so many times during Here Lies Jenny that she does things that left me wondering "How the hell did she do that?" She has such grace and complete control over her body. There were times where it looked like she was flying. It is a truly amazing experience.
I always think of her as cold and standoffish thanks to seeing her as Lilith for so long on Cheers and Fraiser. lol I doubt that she is really like that though.
she is a delightful actress and obviously a wonderful dancer (not a shabby singer either.) Her personality has interested me for quite a while. WHen she won her FIrst Emmy for playing on CHEERS she accepted the EMMY graciously, and more than once said that she was "very flattered." Very flattered? I wish she had chosen words that were, perhaps, a bit more effusive or something. She was MUCH more excited and emotional when she won her Tonys than when she accepted either of her Emmys. I was delighted that she spoke about Chita Rivera's influence on her and Chita's creation of the role of Velma in CHICAGO when Neuwirth accepted her second Tony, this time for CHICAGO. She had previously won the supporting Tony for the revival of SWEET CHARITY. She was rather extraordinary as Sheila in A CHORUS LINE too.
It's no secret, WISH, that she never wanted to do television when Lilith came along. She had to be convinced by her agent to take the job - she wanted to stay in New York and continue with theater, but her agent knew that a TVQ would do wonders for her theater career. That would explain her differences in enthusiasm levels between accepting her Tony and Emmy.

Rath, thanks for jogging my memory. I do recall her talking about her New York folks encouraging her to work with the California folks; and that she would return to Broadway as a known star and that then, when she returned to television, she would be "Broadway royalty," and so on. :)

She is SO tiny. When she danced next to Karen Ziemba, who is a size SIX, she made KZ look enormous!
*Random Question*
Does anyone know if Bebe has vocal training? Or is she mainly only trained in dance? Because, she has a very nice vibrato - I enjoy her singing voice.
Karen's also quite a bit taller.
Not a fan of her singing, but I could watch her dance all day long.
Really? I love her voice. She's an excellent actress, as well. One of my favorite films is the highly underrated LIBERTY HEIGHTS.
I would've killed to have seen her Sheila...
