"Come out of the snarkster, Al" I'm here all week, ladies and gentlemen, all week.
There are a precious few I still stick around for, you're number one on that list Namo!
OK, people, seriously, this needs to stop.

seems to have an "issue" showing up after the Tony's if they don't go her way.
Didn't seem to be an issue when I saw Into the Woods.
I suppose everyone is entitled to their opinion, but this post is kind of stupid. Unless you plan on going to Ms. Benanti's apartment and searching for her doctors' notices, then you should probably just let it go. You have no proof that she's not sick, and if you choose to believe that she just doesn't feel like working, that's your business. Like I said, you're entitled to your opinion, but I think there's a difference between maturely expressing your opinion and just going into a silly rant about a performer you obviously didn't like in the first place. I think your post was simply meant to start a fuss, which you obviously have, so now you can sleep happily :) Let it go.
I think there's some confusion here between Benanti-bashing and ILuv-bashing.
For what it's worth, I think Benanti is awful in the part (and Maddigan's worse). I don't care if she ever comes back. But there seems to be a meanness to the anti-ILuv comments that's unjustified. Being coy and cutesy about a "friendship" with someone like Benanti can be annoying, but, hey, that was like a month ago, and we've all posted stuff here we might have phrased differently. This "BFF" mockery thrown his way seems unusually cruel, that's all.

Where do I begin?
First of all, I guess I should start by asking, really, what in God's name was the point of this thread?
jdixon69 said it best. "That was like a month ago." However you guys felt about my response to the question, "How do you know Laura?", you felt. And you felt that way A MONTH AGO. So, this time, I simply said, "Patrick's right. Laura told me the same thing. October 3rd." And then WannaBeAFoster decided to once again berate me, saying that I referred to her as my "BFF".
Two notes on the BFF bit:
1. I didn't call her my BFF that time.
2. I NEVER CALLED HER MY BFF IN THE FIRST PLACE.
Moving on.
You guys really need to get your facts straight. Laura knew she wasn't getting a Tony two months before she left the show for medical reasoning. She knew when
You need to figure out who you're bashing. I have nothing to do with Broadway. I'm not a star. I'm a theatergoer. So if you're gonna bash me for simply agreeing with Patrick, at least do it in the Off Topic board as this really is NOT that important.
You might think that Laura's not worth bragging about. That's your opinion. No one else's.
Laura, I'm sure, has more talent in her pinky than you do in your entire being.
I'm gonna tell you something I once heard the great Julia Murney tell someone:
"You need to get out more, sweetheart."
jdixon, dancingthru, joe -- thanks.
And for all those times you jerks have called me immature, you might want to want think about what TabooPhan said. "I think your post was simply meant to start a fuss, which you obviously have...." So true, so true.
If you're gonna post a threat about me going on and on and on about Laura, you might want to make sure I was actually doing that before you make the thread.
Tootles!
I love you all

i definitely have to agree with iluv here- she never said Laura was her BFF, and she was just sticking up for a friend when people were saying rotten things about her (Laura, I mean)
but seriously, everyone, could we just let this thread...die
so yeah...

ok, I'm gonna post once, and then just let it be.
Al Dente, your original post would have had SOOO much more credibility if you'd just left it at this topic has been discussed WAY too much. But may I ask, did you honestly feel that posting a thread that... well, its not BASHING really, but it sure is negative towards laura... would really help anything? I dont know, it just seemed like you were trying to tell everyone to let it go and then proceeded to say how mediocre she is. If you REALLY wanted to let it go, wouldn't it have made a LOT more sense not to start the whole thing up again? I mean, with the way you said it, I do not blame iluv at ALL for continuing to stick up for her. I dont know, maybe its just me, but I dont see it as BRAGGING. I see it as he's sticking up for a good friend. No matter WHO she is.
the reason the topic has been discussed to death is because people on both sides just keep provoking eachother!
So, that said, all I have to say is, and this goes for EVERYONE:
how about we just let it END? You either like laura or you dont, but we DONT need to have this much board space devoted to going back and forth about how we feel about her talent/absence/etc. The fact is, she's been out. We dont KNOW why, nor do we NEED to. If you dont like her or dont respect her because of it, that's your perogative. But no matter what, she is a human being and does not deserve to be debated over like this. It IS getting rediculous. and therefore, can we please just STOP?
I'm sure we ALL have much better things to be doing than to be debating about whether or not laura benanti is a diva/weak/not talented/etc. haha
And ummm.. that is all!

Amen to that, snl.
Al Dente makes my skin crawl. Yuck.
If you want to let sleeping dogs lie, why did theatretrash bump up the thread, especially since no one posted anything to it since 8:49 last night.
Such a happy place.
Ahem well, seems that all those who wish so badly to "let sleeping dogs lie" and "stop this already" and so on, feel the need to resurrect this thread as much as possible. I said what I wanted to say and left it at that over almost a day ago. As for my "credibility", I'm quite sure I'm not worried about impressing anyone or being "credible" here. That's almost more absurd than everything else that's gone on and MUNK, you've made me the happiest of all, thanks for the complement "yuck", right back at ya buddy!
And this is how you let a thread die. Al, you suck and I double YUCK you!

This is a link to an Interview with Laura. She explains her whole situation about her health issues. I don't know about other show besides TWS but, after you read this I would certainly call her absences excscusable.
Kind of off-topic on this off-topic, but what IS the deal with all these people proclaiming their "friendships" with celebrities over and over again, and lord knows there's a few on here. There used to be an expression in South Philly that went something like this, " If someone says they're in the mafia, they're not." I have found that this holds water in many facets of life.
I was just about to post that link Becoz.
It's a great interview.
Maybe people will think twice about passing judgement and thinking they know everything now.

okay, this paragraph really applies to BWW:
"When people get so caught up in it [on message boards], and so whacky about it, and so small-minded, it makes me wonder. That's the part of the business, as I've gotten older, that has frustrated me - where I feel like you have the Donna Murphys of the world and the Marin Mazzies and the Bernadette Peters, who are lovely, kind, dynamic, amazing women, and then you have Joe Schmo saying some ridiculous thing about them that's not true on the Internet. I want to say, "You don't know her. You don't know me. Don't talk about me. You don't know what a lovely, lovely person Donna Murphy is. You don't know her private struggles, and if you do, keep them to yourself."
yeah Laura! i love you!
I bet my goodie sack that Bernadette or Donna or Mazzie.. a.) Dont read this uninformed barrage of amateur statement and opinion, and b.) even if they did, wouldn't give a rat's behind.
I vote for A.
What does this have to do with Donna Murphy anyway?
I was just thinking the same thing...
