I know it got an extension, but this great American comedy, a comedy with balls, a comedy not bogged down by a "message" (though its truly about many things) has to find life outside of the extension. If only for David Wilson Barnes to get the awards he deserves. There is no off-Broadway where this show naturally would have transferred to, so I guess its on to Broadway (which didn't fare well for Second Stages equally hilarious "Little Dog Laughed" but ran enough for the awards to notice.) So please go see it, talk it up, make producers notice. I saw it on Sunday without really knowing the plot and I'm sorta glad I didn't. The critic's synopsis that I have read might not do it justice. Go see!!!!

I have a subscription to the Second Stage Theatre Company, and I saw this show a few weeks ago. I absolutely agree with you, it's a lovely comedy show with some strong writing and a strong cast to go with it. I highly recommend this show to anyone looking for a funny off-broadway play experience. Also it's quite close to times square and very easy to get to. I love the space in general, every seat is a good seat, and the set-up works very well. I saw "Next To Normal" a while back in that space and it was a phenomenal theatrical experience. So yes, if anyone is considering it, I give "Becky Shaw" the thumbs up!

I'm sorry if this is lame to ask, but since you've both been - do you know if any of those involved stage door? After reading about the extension I'm considering seeing this during my upcoming trip. An article I think I read on here said it would make a great alternative Valentine's Day treat, so I'm considering seeing it around then. And just wondering if they stage door, especially Emily Bergl since I still remember her from The Rage days.

There is no "stage door" to speak of...the actors come through the Lobby. I'll be there this weekend....I'll let you know if I see anyone (although I don't wait around to see.) I rememember that during N2N the actors were there while we were exiting.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
