Do they remember the disasterous Saturday Night Fever on Bway a few years back???

Does the past equal the future?

Have you seen the show they are considering?

The music of SNF wasn't the problem with the show...

No it doesn't but...think of all the trouble "jukebox" musicals except for mamma Mia and Jersey boys have had.

My point is simply that it's probably best to wait until there's something "out there" before casting judgements about the viability of it.

oh stop, Craig!

Deena only has the past to go on. as human beings we make pre-judgement all the time. I don't blame her... with the exceptional few, look at the terrible fate all of these "jukebox" musicals have met

why should that change now?

Stop what?

Commenting on someone casting dispersion on a show that doesn't exist yet?

Deena is entitled to an opinion as am I, as are you.

The initial comment was in reference to SNF, not jukebox musicals. Which I interpreted as that the BEE GEES shouldn't try another musical on broadway because SNF wasn't a hit

And my point, again, was that it's apples and oranges. You can't write off one show because another failed.

Based on feedback on this message board - look at the reactions to The Producers vs Young Frankenstein. Cry-Baby vs Hairspray.

Every show has a unique set of variables, risks, etc.

I'm just glad Deena wasn't around to tell Sondheim to stop after Anyone Can Whistle bombed.

the music that the bee gee's have written are some of the best. if they can get a fun story line like they did with ABBA music. (I know it ain't rocket science but hey....)

It could be another cute fun musical.
I just wish they had brought the trashy BONEY M Musical to Broadway -- now that would have been ripped apart by the boar.

"Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaky feeling you'll find that love actually is all around."

I hate jukebox musicals but yeah, it's not even complete, there is nothing there to comment on. It's like commenting on a book by someone who isn't even born yet. So relax and wait for it to come out before you say anything.

I mean look at some shows that were highly anticipated and then opened to lukewarm reception on Broadway, A Catered Affair and Cry Baby are perfect examples of this, highly anticipated shows that seemed to disappoint critics. So you know give it a chance to at least not live up to your expectations.

And how many of us were rolling our eyes at the thought of "Shrek the Musical"? Then we got wind of the creative team, the actors signing on and interesting thoughts on the advance viewing: that got some of us interested.

Wait and see is great, but I understant the op's thought.

I hear it's called HAIRY CHEST the musical.

If they don't use the songs from SATURDAY HIGHT FEVER, how many greatest hits do they have left.
Best of Luck to them.

The Bee Gees have a ton of great songs that were not in Saturday Night Fever. I admit that I thought Xanadu would be a humiliating disaster as I had seen the movie in an actual theatre, however I was totally wrong. It turned out to be a fantastic show.

I, for one will be reserving judgement on this show...I wish them all the best.

Always enjoyed their music. I'm hoping there's a role for Taylor Hicks.

Rest in peace, Iflitifloat.

The Bee Gees recorded for 10 years before disco and had plenty of hits. They also wrote and produced songs for others. Listen to some of their early songs, it is very different from the disco stuff. Just look them up on Amazon. I'm intrigued by this.

Singingbackup...Thank you. There is a fantastic catalogue of songs to pull from. However, I hate jukebox musicals. I'm so torn.

I like their earlier stuff, and I'll keep an open mind.
It would be cool to see if they can turn "New York Mining Disaster" into a show tune.
But please, not another disco show.

I'm with Craig on this one and Deena, SNF is going on being almost 9 years ago, heck, it's primed for a revival any minute. As for the show itself, I still say it was WAY better than that still running dreck that is Mama Mia. Timing is everything.
