Ben Vereen & Carol Kane at Wicked Stage Door

So, I saw Wicked tonight... and afterwards we headed over to the stage door. Eden Espinosa, Megan Hilty, Derrick Williams, Cristy Candler and Robb Sapp all came out. We asked the guard if Ben Vereen or Carol Kane ever come out, and he said "No, they use a different exit"....

SOOOOOO.... if I wanted to maybe get an autograph from either Ben or Carol, does anyone know what other door they come out? I know there is another door on 50th Street that Idina was known to use to sneak out... anyone know???

I've gotten Ben at the regular stage door, and I got Carol on the tour in Chicago. Pics and autographs. So they both do come out on occasion.

If they go out a different door, you can bet it's because they DON'T WANT to give autographs.

Yes, Ben didn't come out when I saw him either, which was sad. But, he probably had better things to do than sign a slip of paper and hear me stutter about how wonderful he is. So, I don't begrudge him.

If all you want is an autograph from then, just write them a letter.

Weird, when I saw Wicked, Ben came out each time and totally made sure everyone got something signed. Random strangers walking past practically got signed. It was adorable.

Ben usually comes out (I was there too last night and was surprised he didn't) and signs for everyone. It was his first night back, I believe, so he could have been tired and didn't want to sign. Carol, like the other Morribles, uses the exit on 50th.

Don't try and chase them out a hidden stage door. Like everyone else said, they use a different one for a reason. The regular stage door is SET UP for people to stage door stalk.

And Ben Vereen has come out all three times I have stood at the stage door, but it was all earlier in his run. However, I have a slight suspicion that Ben Vereen LOVES the attention..he is a true "actor", and I bet he will come out sometimes, even if not every night.

Carol Kane is like Joanna Gleason: She doesn't mind signing autographs; she just doesn't like the whole stage door scene. Write to her and I'm sure she'll send you something back.

I'll just toss my question in here:

How long does it take for the cast (specifically Eden) to come out the stage door? I'd really like to get something autographed as a birthday gift for a friend, so I was jsut wondering how long I'd have to wait.

Perhaps Vereen doesn't like to stand around and mingle in the cold? Although, it hasn't been particularly cold this winter, so who knows...

Carol isn't the friendliest person at the stage door. Don't believe me, ask the group of people she nearly ran down after a performance in LA.

That is strange- when I went to Wicked the last time- Ben came out and when he did we all clapped but he was like giving that motion for more and then said "You know what- Im gonna go back in and were gonna try that again" in a joking manner and did so, and we all clapped- he was very nice and signed and took pictures with everyone. Perhaps it is the weather, I dont know.

When I went it was a matinee and I was surprised that Eden and Megan and Derrick all came out. Derrick was out very quickly and then Eden maybe fifteen minutes later.
But please if Carol doesn't want to come out the normal stage door then don't stalk her, thats so rude and will probably make her want to come out even less because it makes the fans look like lunatics lol.

When I was by the Girshwin one day, Ben came out of a different exit and then went to the stage door and snuck up on the crowd and was like: Do you know when Ben Vereen comes out? and when the crowd turns around one woman was like, I didnt like him at all. I laughed so hard i peed

I was walking down the street maybe an hour and a half before the show and saw Ben walking down the street. We (my mom and I) didn't stop him for an autograph though.

Ben came out when I was there, and it was pouring rain. I didn;t want to make him stop in the rain for a pic, so as he was signing my playbill, my bf took a picture. Ben said, "no, no, that won't do." and he put his arm around me and posed for one with me.
A super nice guy. He came out each time I saw the show.
