I think they're wildly different plays, but they're both equally deserving of their individual merits. With INTIMATE APPAREL, a lot of people who didn't see the original production only know of it the acclaim Viola Davis got for her performance, so I think this is a really exciting opportunity for people to experience the piece anew with a tremendous group of actors.
As you say, it'll also be really interesting to get to see Quincy Tyler Bernstine and Condola Rashad playing opposite each other in another Nottage play with
such a different dynamic from what their characters' relationship was like in RUINED.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
