Quite a beautiful cast (what do you do if Viola Davis is not in town).
Jan 7 at Signature-reading to benefit Direct Donor Action Advancing Women Worldwide.
I believe Nottage is on the board.
INTIMATE APPAREL Benefit Reading
This a really amazing cast. Who doesn't love Ari Graynor?

And who doesn't love those two actors from Ruined...
Which for me raises the topic that many of my friends prefer Intimate Apparel to Ruined.
In fact, they think IA should have won the Pulitzer and not Ruined.
I think they're wildly different plays, but they're both equally deserving of their individual merits. With INTIMATE APPAREL, a lot of people who didn't see the original production only know of it the acclaim Viola Davis got for her performance, so I think this is a really exciting opportunity for people to experience the piece anew with a tremendous group of actors.
As you say, it'll also be really interesting to get to see Quincy Tyler Bernstine and Condola Rashad playing opposite each other in another Nottage play with such a different dynamic from what their characters' relationship was like in RUINED.

Someone once told me that Tonya Pinkins was up for Mama Nadi. What's your take on that casting?

In my email queue this morning from a friend.
More info about the benefit organization, Nottage's involvement and more info about cast.

sskeats, Pinkins would have been a great Mama Nadi. Adriane Lenox (who was supposed to do it originally) would have also been superb.

I was told that the best Mama Nadi by a friend who saw most of them, was Jenny Jules who played it in London and in D.C.
Did you see her? I haven't but wish I did. I was told she made the play more powerful.

I noticed that Condola who is doing this reading is in Trip to Bountiful. I wonder if she's going to in HBO's Stick Fly where she won o Tony nom on Bway.
