I love how she wears her Mama Rose shoes and sweater in concert appearances...It's very funny.
It's a good performance, but she was better each of the times I saw her do it on Broadway.

I know I'm in the minority, but I also loved her portrayal of Mama Rose.

I love her as Rose also. The cast recording is my favorite. She puts so much emotion into Rose's Turn and doesn't go over the top

Thank you for posting that! I love her sooo much. My love of her rivals my love for Kristin Chenoweth...lol. I want to live in Bernadette's suitcase.

I have no words for Bernadette's performance in Rose's Turn. Patti is physically just such a large presence that her Rose was more intimidating but Bernadette's portrayal of Rose was so skillfully acted and so nuanced. Every gesture, every glare, every detail was so spot on and just so convincing. I not only saw it on her face, but felt it in her energy change when Rose "cracks". Her voice is indescribable but it is her performance quality that is truly captivating. This woman is just the be all and end all for me.

I meant that in a good way, more in terms of presence and attitude than actual physical size. But yeah I actually am scared, I'm changing my address as we speak.

Yet another amazing performance from Bernadette. 2mins 12secs in just breaks my heart each time I watch it. What I love about Bernadette's portrayal is the raw intensity and genuine truth she finds in the character. Yes, I liked Patti's portrayal, but for me it was a powerhouse performance, which lacked the depth and complexity Bernadetter discovered with it. I also love that we can see in Bernadette's portrayal that clearly Rose did have a lot to offer, as a performer, but it just never happened for her, and that makes it all the more tragic.
Was this performance released on DVD? She looks fabulous for her age.

This performance is better than the performance I saw her give in the Sam Mendes production. And it is infinitely better than the performance she gives on the CD cast album--she sounds like a weak cat on the recording, IMO. Sorrry to disagree with Bernadette's legion of fans.

I always thought this was a weird song to choose in a concert performance, but Bernadette, unsurprisingly, makes it work.
