Absolutely, Barbie, but lets not forget that NIGHT MUSIC has been a VERY good thing for her too - here is a role that despite early skeptics has proven to be a perfect fit (perhaps even definitive) and one for which she will probably receive some of the best reviews of her career. After alot of the naysers who questioned her suitability for ANNIE GET YOUR GUN and GYPSY - this is a major, major triumph.
But its only fitting in a way that it should be a Sondheim role that puts her back on top. FOLLIES could be the nice cherry on top (t (I can't help but compare it to LuPone's recent double triumph in GYPSY and SWEENEY TODD).

Already made the Playbill for it. BRING IT ON BERNIE!
What about Catherine Zeta-Jones as Phyllis to Bernie's Sally?

They don't look the same age.

I'd hardly go that far. Bernadette looks great, but I think - as Michael Bennett had said at some point in this thread - if Bernadette is going to play Sally, the remaining three of the main four need to be cast closer to her age than the actual character's ages.
I wonder what someone like Joanna Gleason might be like as Phyllis opposite Peters as Sally
Very well stated Michael Bennett about Desiree being a surprisingly good role for Bernadette. Sally truly would be a cherry on the top of this grand return to the stage for Ms Peters after a 7 year hiatus.
I really don't think Bernadette looks older than 49. If you've seen her in Night Music, you'd likely agree.
I think it will be fine if her Phyllis, Ben, and Buddy are in their early-to-mid 50's.
I sat in the front row of Night Music on Wednesday and had CZJ appeared on stage at the same time as Bernie, I can promise that everyone in the audience would have had absolutely no trouble believing they were both 40-something women.

Bernadette will definately be in Follies. As I mentioned in another thread (Night Music extending through January), Bernadette was scheduled to appear in concert with our symphony in April 2011. After purchasing tickets, they rescheduled the concert to January 2011, with the reason stating. Ms. Peter's committment to Follies in Wasington DC.
^We know. She's been the only officially announced cast member.
I'm in a mood for nostalgia and like reading over old posts. I quite like this thread, especially looking at some of the predictions in hindsight. Some made before she was even announced to be cast (e.g. "She wouldn't be the cute/harmless Sally") came true.
