I’m looking for advice on best deals/best kept secrets on or off broadway for the weekend of Dec. 2-3. I couldn’t find anything specific through the search so please don’t shoot me if this has been covered.
I will be coming into NY with a friend who is on a tight budget and we were hoping to try for lotto or student/general rush. What we are looking for are good shows that not many people are fighting over. It sucks to come all the way there and not get to see a show because you chose an overly popular show to get cheap seats for (and failed). We want to find good shows where student rush is easy to get or lotto is easy to win. It could be on or off broadway. Are there any best kept secrets/best deals in town out there? I just know there has to be some gem that the tourists don’t know about. We are looking to spend less than $50 per ticket. Any advice would be appreciated.
(FYI, one show we are planning on getting discounts tix for in advance is Evil Dead)

something i found amazing is that the last row of Drowsy Chaperone is still only $25.00 and it's still SUCH a good view. while this show may be sold out by the time you actually GET there, it's still a kick a$$ price to pay beforehand.
plus it's a great show.

Last row of orch or mezz? I haven't seen that one yet, but it is definately on my list. I will look into getting those seats beforehand. This is the exact kind of tidbit I'm looking for. Thanks!

Posted: 11/7/06 at 2:03pmThanks for your suggestions. Wicked is hard to win, so it's not on my list (plus I'm really over that show). As I mentioned, I am doing Wedding Singer, and I think I'm going to buy discount tickets for Evil Dead since I want to avoid the splatter zone (won't have room in my bag for extra clothes). But if I do decide to go for $25 splatter zone seats, are they easy to get, or is competition high?
