After listening to all three again, I changed my mind.
Either the OBR or the film. The Off Broadway is simply a classic. There are moments in it that I enjoy a lot better than the revival. The movie took what was in the OBR and made parts of it a bit better. The revival tried to copy the movie too much, and thats how it became so cutesy.

Really, I enjoy the OOBC and the Revival the best.
Personally, I like BOTH Ellen Greene and Kerry Butler, different actresses, different voices. The orchestrations and completness of the Revival are wonderful, however, they do have a more "American Idol" sound.
Kinda up to you though.

OffBroadway wins hands down but you need the new album to fill in the many gaps. I don't really midn the OffBroadway orchestrations--they're a bit dopey but that adds to the appeal to me--my one big complaint is how damn echoey Phil Ramone made the recording--anyoen else noticed/ All I can think is maybe he did it as a hommage to the Wall of Sound style...
The revival recording comes off better than much fo the show did on stage but is just lacking in attitude for me. I actually like the new songs for the movie (Some Fun Now is basically just a simplified version of Know though)
Listening to it makes me wish we'd get a recording of Ashman/Menken's first, very good funny score--God Bless You Mr Rosewater
