Best Orchestrations!!!

I always have to start this thread! Well, I did last year anyway...

Who do you think will take this one home?

Jason Carr, SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE
Alex Lacamoire & Bill Sherman, IN THE HEIGHTS
Stew & Heidi Rodewald, PASSING STRANGE
Jonathan Tunick, A CATERED AFFAIR

In your response post the following (with your own POV of course) -

THE WINNER: IN THE HEIGHTS
WHO YOU WANT: A CATERED AFFAIR
WHO MIGHT SURPRISE US AS WINNER: PASSING STRANGE

A little known fact is that in the original screenplay, Pan's Labyrinth was Pan's FLAByrinth. Hmmmmmmm...glad they changed it.

I think ACA should win, but ITH will probably win.

re: Best Orchestrations!!!

Passing Strange will probably win, they'll want to give something to Stew and Heidi, since ITH will probably take score.

It's a shame, because there is no question in my mind that Tunick should win. This will be the 2nd straight year he'll be screwed out of winning for nominators not viewing orchestrations as its own category, and really what orchestrations are and what makes great orchestrations (if they did, there's no way Shiek would have beaten Tunick last year)
"If there was a Mount Rushmore for Broadway scores, "West Side Story" would be front and center. It snaps, it crackles it pops! It surges with a roar, its energy and sheer life undiminished by the years" - NYPost reviewer Elisabeth Vincentelli

In The Heights!
"Everytime you step on that stage it is somebody's first Broadway show and somebody's last Broadway show. Make it count."

Winner: Jonathan Tunick!
Who I want: Jonathan Tunick, of course
Upset: Passing Strange
"As we all should probably have learned by now, to be a Stephen Sondheim fan is to have one's heart broken at regular intervals" - Frank Rich

Dearest, how can this be so? You were dead, you know. - Candide

Oh my god, this show has everything! Half naked guys and girl on girl action! - [title of show]

There's only one who would deserve it and that's Tunick, no doubt. The score would be rather weak without his magical touch. And thanks to Tunick, it's overall nice to repeatedly listen to.

Passing Strange winning would be a big fat joke. But who knows...

Sunday In The Park With George. Although A Catered Affair could be a dark horse. I feel ITH and Passing Strange aren't really great orchestral shows, they just have a great score.
