I haven't been to Studio 54 yet so I was hoping for input from those who have already seen this production as to whether up close or further back was better for this particular theater and show.
There was a recent thread where different people had various opinions about loving/hating the front row based on the actual theater but Studio 54 wasnt mentioned, so I saw no harm in my thread asking specifically about this show/theater.
yeah I want to catch this show before it closes. better to see up close or farther back? there was a good thread on which theater it was better to sit up close or further back but I dont remember them mentioning this one. it would be useful to know when buying tickets.
What I didn't like about some of the reviews is that they seem to compare this production to how close (or not) it is to the movie, especially when stating how "un-Brando" Reilly is in the part. Personally this is one of the factors that makes me look forward to seeing the play to get this different perspective. One more point on this from what I've heard from people who have already attended the play, is that the rape scene seems to be clearly about "destruction" and not about "seduction" as was suggested by someone in a literature class I took in college. He said that because Blanche was attracted on some level to Stanley that she subconsciously wanted to be raped. Needless to say, I found this interpretation to be very disturbing.
I appreciated the point of view given by Robbiej, Melissa and MargoChanning in their reviews because they seemed more objectively based on the play itself, rather than a certain "mold" to follow regarding the casting and presentation.
I take it row NN of the mezz isn't ideal seating for this one! *sigh* Sucks to be poor!
But when did New Hampshire become--Such a backward wasteland of seatbelt hating crazies?...I mean, only 40 people actually live there. The others are just visitors who come for the tax-free liquor and three inches of novelty coastline. John Hodgeman on The Daily Show (1-30-07)
No Madame X, I didnt. I just got one email from someone else who felt that it might be a little difficult to see from the B Row, a scene where Blanche is smoking a cigarette on the balcony.
