Having only listened to the recordings (This is the first full season I have not been able to see the shows live), "Maybe Happy Endings" is my favorite score. However, I prefer the Korean recording of it and the song that got me hooked was "The Way That It Has to Be". JMO

I didn’t see Death Becomes Her and Real Women Have Curves on my April trip, so I can’t comment about them.
Dead Outlaw has the score I am most likely to listen to most often.
Operation Mincemeat is catchy fun and had my favorite new song of recent years, ‘Dear Bill.’ I’ve rambled on about that elsewhere.
Here’s the thing about the Maybe Happy Ending score. It’s not a great score if you’re just listening for the music, especially without context. But I really like the score anyway, because I’m more of a lyrics person and love the way the songs advance the story and our understanding of the characters. I wasn’t sitting in the theater thinking the score is weak. I was caught up in the story, which is advanced in various ways by the score. I think Maybe Happy Ending’s book is stronger than its score, though.

My sentiments exactly. MHE's score supports the play, but a lot of it was merely "nice"... Dead Outlaw has real songs, a lot of it due to the thematic revue structure (and because David Yazbek is probably our best current theatre composer). Operation Mincemeat's score basically does the same as MHE, but Real Women also has some very diverse and soul stirring melodies (and not bad lyrics).

Remember the Tony Award broadcast assumed Mean Girls' Tina Fey would win Best Book and it became the only technical award given on screen that night...and then Itmar won! That pleased me.

I agree on Sail on Boys and Dear Bill, true standouts in that score. Is it just me, or does the cast recording as a whole sounds weirdly artificial / auto-tuned?"
I've been listening to OM a lot since seeing the show a week ago and I know what you're saying. I think it's the mix. I don't think they gave the elements enough 'air' or 'presence' - it's too clean / perfect. Still enjoy listening to it, though.
