Who could forget Marcus Lovett going on as Billy Bigelow in the '94 revival of Carousel. I believe he learned the role in 24 hours!!!
Linda Muggleston Rocked!!! Her performance

I agree with the acclaim for Linda Mugleston's stepping in for Donna Murphy as Ruth in "Wonderful Town." I had a ticket last week because I wanted to see Murphy one last time, but she was out. The person at the box office convinced me not to exchange the ticket, but to stay and see the understudy. And she was great--a more earthy and raucous Ruth than the elegant and stylized Murphy's, but just as interesting a performance. Only part I preferred Murphy in was the Village Vortex jazz number (forget the name of the song).

Haven't had the chance to see many but I was amazed by Jessica Grove in Millie and I've heard Jana Robbins was wonderful as Rose, she's one of my faves

I agree about Jessica Grove--what a crystal clear soprano she has. But hands down best u/s has to go for Linda Mugleston. I am in awe of her talent to transform into characters. A little background on her--she has covered for Marin Mazzie in KMK, Vanessa Williams in ITW, Mary Stuart Masterson in Nine and now Donna Murphy. I saw her go in for Donna this past spring and loved it. In fact, once I got my cd, I was a little disappointed w/some of the singing although I do love Donna and would like to see her do the role someday. But I HIGHLY recommend Linda's solo CD to any fan of musical theatre. She does a nice mix of old standards, some newer songs and musical theatre. Its great and rarely leaves my cd player!
oh man is this lame to most of my comrades - but I've seen Eden, and Laura Bell Bundy - and they were outstanding!

Youre welcome Broadwaysweetheart:) Im always happy to make a new Linda convert! Shes super nice in real life too. I sent her a letter (my first and only fan letter) and she replied w/a long response and answered all my questions!

I am very happy to see Cheyenne Jackson getting such a response! The last time I saw AIDA, I went specifically to see him as Radames and was actually worried that Adam would be ON that night...I'm a huge Adam Pascal fan, but I liked Cheyenne's performance just as much (if not a bit more) than Adam's...incredible performer...big things are waiting for him!
