Salt water gargle will dry out your throat. It makes your throat feel better but if your goal is to be able to sing while you are recuperating and taking immune support etc, then I'd suggest following Ugarte's advice.
I've used this mixture before and though it is gross and you have to chug it...it definitely works. Used by lots of singers.
