Actually the worst NY show I've seen recently was FORBIDDEN BROADWAY, unfortunately. Sad to say. I've seen it in the past and loved it, but it's very tired lately.

i think that because wicked was so quickly accepted as the next big thing on broadway (as it has proven itself to be) it is merely getting the backlash that most hits do. wicked is not "hands down" the worst. the thing about people who are so particular about what they like as far as entertainment goes, is that they usually dont want to be on any kind of band wagon whatsoever, so they develop this distaste for something that they could have enjoyed if they had given it a chance. wicked is wildely entertaining, the score, which is weak at times, still produces fantastic theatrical moments, and gives the stars a lot of room to do what they do best- perform and give the audience a wonderful night at the theater, and they do.

I agree with you about FIDDLER. I think it's getting unfairly slammed. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I was sort of dreading sitting through what could possibly be an endless evening of theater, but came away very pleased. The night just flew by. The only major problem I had with the show was Barbara Barrie as Yente, and they ended up replacing her anyway. (Wise choice.)

Beautiful production values. Kick-ass orchestra.
