Best--Avenue Q, Caroline or Change (and i would expect Assasins to join this group)
Worst--Boy from Oz, Drowning Crow (Wicked has so many problems, it's a close runner-up for me)

i agree about avenue Q, but boy from oz?? i dont agree, wicked does have some problems but it is the most "family accepted"

Most "family accepted" doesn't constitute quality in any way, shape, or form. But anyway...
In musicals, I'd say Avenue Q is the best and Jackie Mason's Laughing Room Only is the worst.

Well then, you've heard wrong about Fiddler. Yes, it's different from the Jerome Robbins original - but it's a very attractive production in its own right, and in fact, uses a fair share of the Robbins original choreography. Yes, I quibbled with a few things here and there - but appreciated a number of new touches. Yes, Alfred Molina is not giving the big grand kind of Tevye performance we've all come to expect - but he has much more of an everyman quality, suitable for a simple shtetl milkman. What this production does is soften the musical comedy aspects of the work, and to me, it played more like a drama with songs, and a few jokes to lighten the mood.
This production was hampered by that ridiculous Los Angeles Times piece by whacko Thane Rosenbaum, and now that label of "not Jewish enough" has stuck to the production. I'm Jewish and found no fault in the casting or the performance approach.
Theatre cannot live in mothballs. I'm guilty too, sometimes, of clinging to my memories of the original productions for some of these revivals popping up these days. But I've also found that talented artisans can succeed in making you look at a work with new eyes, if you are willing to open them.

as for worst... I haven't seen anything this year that I would consider "the worst." I've seen shows this year that had their share of problems, and that I didn't love, but nothing utterly horrible. I'm not at all a fan of Fiddler, so I'm going to say that... even though I haven't seen this production. I just can't stand that musical

well magruder i may see it in a month when im in NYC but i havent decided yet its one of my all time favorite shows. I just wouldn't want to ruin one of the only amazing "jew" musicals (im a proud jew)if it was bad. plus even though i love alfred molina's film work i heard he does tevye in his normal british accent which doesn't ring yiddish at all.

I've seen a good amount of shows this season, but I really cannot say anyone of them were horrible. I got my moneys worth for each one!
The Best Out of the Bunch I saw-
Avenue Q, Wicked, and Wonderful Town
I'm suprised Wicked isn't appearing as others favorites.
Little Shop, though I know mostly everyone on this board loathes the production saying it lost something blah blah blah or hates Kerry Butler, but I loved it! I know it won't win any Tony Awards, but it certainly was a great show!
I'm so excited for the Tony Awards this year because they aren't really that predictable. Last year, I basically predicted everything. This year there is a load of great shows lighting up Broadway. Cant wait!!

Best: Wicked, and I did enjoy Never Gonna Dance (not necessarily the singing, but the dancing was just phenomenal and it was a great throwback)

Best: Avenue Q, and although just a personal fave, I loved Anna in the Tropics.
Worst: Wicked. Hands down. Has some wonderful moments- but not very consistent, and not the best score either. It's got songs that I love, but I skip at least 75% of the CD.
