I want to bring my son and his girlfriend to NYC to see The Color Purple on Monday, December 26th. Does anyone know if the 2:00 or 8:00 show would be a better chance to see Cynthia Erivo? Is there a schedule as to when she performs? I know that Monday isn't a normal 2 show day but has been added due to Christmas week. Thank you!
Erivo is scheduled to do both shows that day. She's scheduled to be off for the Wednesday matinee that week, but you should be good with either Monday show, barring illness/injury.

Thank you! Do you happen to know if Jennifer Holliday shares the same schedule? I should have included that in my original question as well!

I would choose the evening performance.
I have seen the case where a performer is coming back from illness or isn't strong enough for two performances in one day. In that case, they have always chosen the evening performance, and the understudy did the matinee.
You never know and it could be the other way around if performer is getting sick and makes it through the matinee but not evening but personally, I would be more comfortable purchasing tickets to the evening performance (your mileage may vary).
According to the show's Telecharge page, xmaschild, Holliday doesn't have any scheduled absences.

I highly doubt Cynthia would miss a show unless she absolutely had to (she's practically superhuman). But, I would think the evening performance would be slightly safer. Also, I often feel as though evening performances are more energetic than matinees.
I know this is a total noob question, but where do you go to check who is out for specific performances?
Thanks!!!
they just updated Erivo's dates. There's now also 3 dates Holliday will be out.
*Cynthia Erivo will not perform on Sunday - November 6, all performances November 15 - November 22; Friday matinee - November 25, Wednesday matinee - November 30, Wednesday matinee - December 28, and Sunday evening - January 1.
**Jennifer Holliday will not perform on Monday - November 7, Thursday - November 17 & Monday - December 19.
