Posted: 8/8/06 at 5:10pmNo matter how much I love Sweeney, I would NOT take someone who is not familiar with musical theatre to it. It's just...not something for a non theatre lover. Sondheim is...an acquired taste, a genius, but something not all non theatre lovers can appreciate.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels or Spamalot. Both are good for a laugh.
My dad isnt huge into musicals but he loved these.

Posted: 8/8/06 at 5:50pmI think maybe DRS. Spamalot is also great for non-theatre people, but it has so many theatrical in-jokes it's better when you're familiar with Broadway. I love Sweeney to death (Ooh! Pun!) but it is a very dark and unconventional show. It's hard to introduce guys to Broadway, but DRS is fun, funny, and topical.
