Best wishes for a fantastic opening night, and of course good reviews!
I haven't seen it yet, but I'm a big fan of Will Chase, so I wish him the best with this project!

Best of luck... though I think they need more than just luck right now, unfortunately.
You saw the show? Or are you just basing your comment on the board's comments on the show?
Good luck...you'll need it.
Don't all shows need it?
No.
Ben Brantley is circling this show like a shark around chum right now.
There are SOME redeeming things about this show (some of the performers/scenes, the lyrics) that I hope don't get swept up in his "I hated it because it's missing Kristen Chenoweth" mentality but I imagine it's going to be an all-out pan.
Brantley was there when I saw the show. It was humorous.
There are several redeeming things about the show, but they are so few and far between that they get lost in the general disaster that is HIGH FIDELITY. It deserves a pan. You can't fault Brantley for telling it like it is.
Mary Poppins certainly didn't need it.
And Wicked did just fine without raves.
But this show does need it because "word of mouth" is not good and there is no box office advance.

munkustrap178 yet again spoils another post with his perpetuating negativity.
Do you have a personal problem with this show? Or are you just consistently bitter?

I'm not bitter nor do I have a personal problem with the show.
I do not thinkg garbage should be tolerated on Broadway. I'm sorry. It shouldn't. I feel sorry for you that you think it should.
Oh, Munk, I'm not saying he shouldn't pan it. I do think it's sad that he (and he's not alone in criticdom in doing this) will allow his general ill-will to prevent him from pointing out when something is good.
I'll tell you one thing, though; some of his barbs on High Fidelity are probably going to be epic.
I don't know...I almost feel like this review will be almost dismissive.
He cut deep for THE TIMES and MARY POPPINS. He might just sit this one out.
I do think Brantley is good and pointing good out when he sees it. I can't imagine him giving Will Chase a pan.
I don't know. I really forsee a very backhanded compliment at most. I think Will's doing a good job up there but Rob's jovial enough without being all that likeable a fellow. There's so much to bash he just might sit out the complimentary side, too.
But it's all conjecture. We'll know for sure tonight if the pull quote's something like, "well...they went and did it!" (the missing part being, "ruined another film")
I love how when Munk gives an educated opinion on a show he's seen, everyone cries "NEGATIVE!!"
It's like when Simon gives someone due critisism on American Idol and all of the people in the audience boo.
The truth hurts and Munk is just telling the truth.
That being said, good luck to the actors. The fact that this show isn't set in London still makes me mad.

I forgot how "educated" munk was. How silly of me, he is a CATS fan, I should have known better than to doubt him.
Maybe munk is psychic too, since he knows what the Times will say before it comes out.

I enjoy CATS, so that makes me stupid?
And I never claimed to know what the Times would say. Ever.
And I'm a Cats fan and am educated too. Never once have I heard Munk state that Cats was the summit of Musical theatre unlike some Brooklyn and Wicked fans who proclaim that they "luv teh best muzicals evah!!!"
Cats is entertainment and a wonderful dance concert as any educated person can see if they have any sort of brain in their head.

munk:
Let's put this to rest.
For the record, I never called you "stupid".
The word "educated" was used by another member, and I am arguing that your opinion does not make you and expert either. We are all entitled to our opinions: you like Cats, I do not - I like High Fidelity, you do not. Let's leave it at that, ok?
And let's all wait for the reviews, good or bad. All I know is whatever they say, it won't change how much I enjoy HiFi.

Munkustrap, I think I'm having a hard time understanding why you feel the need to march into every High Fidelity-related thread and express your dissatisfaction with the show. By this point, I think the board understands that you didn't enjoy the show and feel it's garbage. I certainly respect your opinion, along with your theatre knowledge in general, but I think it's a bit unfair to those who happened to enjoy it to constantly make negative comments about the show. I definitely don't think you're "stupid" for enjoying Cats, but as someone who despised Cats and think that musical is what you would call "garbage," I would never think of going into nearly every Cats-related thread and expressing disgust with the show.
Perhaps you think it would be perfectly right and fine for me to do so - and maybe that's where our opinions differ. I won't attempt to insult you based on what shows you happen to like, but I do think the constant snarky comments are uncalled for.
And with that, I'm off to try lotto.
I happen to enjoy reading these boards for the most part but rarely post. However, I have noticed that this Munk person LOVES to be negative. I guess it's his/her opinion/personality, however, it just comes off to me that he/she is simply a failed writer or actor. Seems to be more of a failed writer that could never get a show produced. Just my humble opinion.
I'll take the opinion of someone with a college degree in theatre over someone without one any day of the week when it comes to theatre.
