Follies (OBC) - "Follies" finale girl costumes
Contact - wife's blue dress, girl in the yellow dress
La Boheme (2004 revival)
Beauty and the Beast - if just for the sheer architecture of them
The Act - Halston Bway, does it get better?

Posted: 3/30/06 at 11:51pmMmmm...how could I forget the King and I!? Anna's dresses are simply amazing (though I always used to wonder hard hard it would be for her to go to the bathroom), and the kings, his wives and his children's costumes are all exquisite as well.

Oh Andrew; just the talk of J&H makes me all warm and fuzzy...I love the costumes in Piazza and Wicked. The Color Purple's got some amazing ones as did La Cage last year...I loved my costumes for Rocky Horror last year...I don't think I can put those pictures on my links... :-P
Cheers,
Christopher

I agree with Brooklyn having ingenious costume ideas.
And, depending what your definition of "costume" is, The Lion King

Catherine Zuber's costumes for SEASCAPE.
Edit: SNLMedia, you beat me to it. But yes, I agree.

The Phantom of the Opera - The costumes are beautiful. Having seen the wedding gown up close I was amazed at all the detail.
Personally I loved the Aida costumes. They were so simple it was beautiful

I thought the costumes in the Lion King were the best part, and loved how they made fun of them in Forbidden Broadway.
I also love the Lady of the Lake's outfit during The Song That Goes Like This in Spamalot

THE KING AND I - 1996 revival. Simply stunning!
CHICAGO - revival. Sexy, sleak, timeless, serve their purpose very well.
CATS - imaginative
THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA - just brilliant. Maria Björnson was a genius!
SUNSET BOULEVARD - Norma's costumes were so over the top!

BwayBaby18- jlt had the "good version" if you watch the b'way.com backstage tour (w/ carole shelley) she actually shows some of the replacement panels for the dress.
I can see the reason for the change on the tour since i imagine it was hard enough to keep up with when it basically got worn for half an hour and hung up, packaging it up over and over would have been hell on the wardrobe staff.

Sweeney doesn't have very elaborate costumes, but I thought the concept of the white robes with the red streaks (if you've seen the show, then you know what I'm talking about...I don't want to give to much away for anyone who hasn't seen it) was a great idea and fit the show in terms of simplicity.
