Best tips for buying West End Tickets - Help

Please, I need a help.
I'll arrive in London in November and I really want to see a lot of shows and plays.
So... what are the best tips for buying good seats for a reasonable price?
Should I buy tickets in advance? If so, what sites do you recommend?

There must be a few "must-sees" among your 'shows and plays', so it might be as well to try and book them in advance if they're important to you. Doesn't mean you can't get discount, but at least you get peace of mind. That's how I tend to approach it when I visit NYC.

My favourite one-stop-shop is theatremonkey.com; special offers, seat reviews, show descriptions etc. Broadwaybox.com/london is also worth a look for discounts. I've had some great bargains via lastminute.com, but the only downside is you don't get to find out your seat allocation until you pick up your tickets at the Box Office.

Off the top of my head, Sister Act, Hairspray and Wicked all offer "day seats" - £25 front row tickets which you can only buy on-day by queueing at the box office. I'm sure someone else will chip in if there are others I've omitted.

So what are you hoping to see?

Thanks, TIGGOSAURUS!

I don't know nothing about the plays yet, but the musicals are:

Must-see list:

Sister Act
La Cage Aux Folles
Priscilla, Queen of the Desert
Oliver!

and "Maybe" List:

Avenue Q
Billy Elliot
Blood Brothers
Dirty Dancing, The Musical
Grease, The Musical
Hairspray
Les Miserables
The Rise and Fall of Little Voice

Should I avoid some of them?
Am I forgetting something good?

From your must sees I would book Oliver and Priscilla in advance as discounts for these are rare. You might be able to find a £20 off top price for priscilla somewhere.

Also La Cage might be popular because of John Barrowman

Lastminute.com is a good place to look. Also join Enjoylondonforless which offers links to all the cheap deals avaliable.

Do not worry about booking in advance for La Cage, my best tip with this show (I have just done it on a Saturday night in the middle of school holidays, so I know it works) Go on a weekday just to be safe, but turn up to the box office 30 minutes before the show starts, NO EARLIER! and they will put you in the best seat availible for £17.50, worked for me, and has worked for quite a few other people I know, MOST theatres run this policy, but if a show is busy, its touch and go what you get, and quite often you are left in the seats no one wants! (But as I say, i know of people doing this 5 times with La Cage, and have always ended up with an AMAZING seat!)

Lastminute seems to be having good offers on Sister Act.

And CONaries whilst I agree with you, I think people are underestimating how much of an impact John Barrowman will have on ticket sales at La Cage.
