Hi all! I live in Philly and I'm planning a New York day trip for Saturday 3/11. I saw Company back in July and was able to get matinee tickets like two hours before the show at $79 from the box office. I'm thinking about seeing either the matinee of Kimberly Akimbo, Funny Girl, or Little Shop, haven't made up my mind yet.
I'm a bit worried about getting tickets the day of though. I guess I got lucky with Company but would I be okay to just get tickets from the box office a few hours before curtain? My concern is that it will be sold out and I should just get tickets online, but I've heard to avoid Telecharge like the plague. Any advice? I'd also be down to do TKTS but I'm just wondering what everyone's thoughts are.
The only one of those you’ll probably run into problems for is “Funny Girl”, as it’s been completely selling out. They do have standing room I believe that you can get day off, but I’m sure you’ll have to get there very early for. I know people have rushed “Kimberly Akimbo” closer to curtain and gotten tickets, though.

Try winning the lottery for Kimberly. If you don't win they send a link for $74 seats. Hard to get day of for Funny Girl unless you do standing room but they only sell 8-10 tickets.

There's really no reason to avoid Telecharge (especially "like the plague"!) unless you don't want to pay service fees. Otherwise it's the best way to get the seats you want on the date you want to attend. As others have said -- unless it's a sold out show (like Funny Girl), the best bet is to go to the box office or to TKTS.

Just curious. If you get the lottery loser offer, do you have any choice about seat location or do you get assigned by the box office? I assume it’s the latter but wanted to check. Any terrible seats at the Booth Theatre (those far-side orchestra seats close to the stage that look to be partial view)?

You can choose the seats. Its like a normal telecharge transaction. It's $74 including fees.

Good to know. Thanks.
I've got a month to figure out how to sign up for the lottery on Telecharge. That should be enough time.
While winning the lottery gets you cheap tickets, is there an advantage in "losing" if you get to pick your seats?

When I won KA, the tickets were in the third row orchestra. The "loser" tickets are in the back orchestra and mezzanine.
