I believe she played Vera somewhere before she did Drowsy. She was likely marvelous, as was Harriet Harris. (Someone write a show wtih an offbeat lead for that lady!)

I would like to see her as Muriel in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Maybe LeFleur in Nine and Fastrada in Pippin, as well.

She's a comic goddess, in my book

I see her more as a Louisa in NINE...she's too young for LeFleur.

She would make an interedting Reno in ANYTHING GOES, and an awesome Phyllis in FOLLIES.

She's another of those amazingly versatile actresses, like Victoria Clark, who's finally getting her due. She can do a lot even though she's pretty confined to the comedic roles all the time.

The thing that's so amazing about her in Drowsy is her entire transformation. Yes, the makeup, costume and wig make her look MUCH older than she is, but her physical nature and entire persona is transformed into this other being from another generation. She's brilliant in the role!!!

Actually some insiders to the Broadway scene tried to lobby the producers of TMM to get her as Meers, but it was too late and the show closed.

As for MAME, yes, she has done Vera Charles.

A few years ago, she did Miss Hannigan, but I forgot where. The MUNY perhaps? Anyway, someone sent me a photo and it was the most hilarious thing! The wig she had on! Total I Love Lucy!

Speaking of which, if anyone ever has ideas on doing a stage show based on Lucille Ball's life, Beth would be a great choice for that too.

She performed the role of Miss Hannigan in 200__(?) at the Helen Hayes Playhouse in Nyack, NY. I had tickets, but couldn't make it.
