Bette Midler, Lilly Tomlin, Toni Basil,& Dame. HUSSY POWER AT HAIRSPRAY

I had the most fantastic experience of my life ( second to meeting my lover) at the Friday night performance of Hairspray. ( and Marc; I am going to choose to believe you planned this) Seated right next to me in row D was the divine one Bette Midler, accompanied by Lilly Tomlin, and coreographer to the divine one Toni Basil. They were very nice. And very into the show. Starting alot of the applause and friendly to anyone who approached them. But I tell you; just as I thought the Hussy energy couldn't get any higher; the delicious ( and thats the perfect word for him) Jim Vukovich ripped into the act 2 intro and every man, woman, and person with a pulse was pounding with desire. A fantastic conductor and a hot man. The usual hussys were also in their usual fantastic form; starting with Mr Villanch, Marissa, and especially (and I am bias) Susan Cella. After the show we were escorted ( ok ; we tagged along) with the divas backstage. It was really cool to see how nice they were with the cast. I had my reunion with Susan Cella and her dog Bella Cella. It was so good to see her. We then grabbed the sexiest dresser, assistant, and confidante Bruce Villanch has probably ever had; a stud called BYRON BATISTA (former headliner of the now defunct Revolver club) and his equally charming stud muffin of a husband and proceeded with some of my friends (the hussettes) to the trashiest, sleasiest, gay bar we could find in hollywood "The Spotlight Lounge". After a few spirits ( not a place for Mojitos), Byron proceeded to demonstrate his pool playing skills. It was amazing ; because he would hit the balls and pull bags with "blue" magazines in them out of the air at the same time. Well at least we also got some good literature . By the time I left ( I think it was 2 am) they were all still playing pool. I finally made it home by 3. What a great night. To the entire cast and producion team of Hairspray ( and I know you all read this board when you can pull yourselves away from the off-topic board)... You are all FANTASTIC. Thank you.

That sounds like a BLAST - I've talked with Ms. Tomlin before - what a brain! Would like to meet the Divine one, though. Glad to know the show is going well.

We did nothing to Jack but attend a party at his house. He just had his Tony sitting there on the table, so Jim and I HAD to get pictures with it!

I sat in the 3rd row at Madison Square Garden for Bette's concert...it was tremendous !!!!

When she comes back to LA I might go thru a scalper to get up close. The last two times I was at the back of the Staples center and at the back of the MGM grand ( thats because I let theatermafia buy the tickets... but let me not start with that again)

Well, so close yet so far...I am in the airport in NYC right now, Woo was carted off to cargo (after the proper tearful scene...me, not Woo), Ree is under my seat, and our plane is 2 hours late (and counting)

From what I understand; it was the bar. And poor Tom had that hustler hitting on him and he was all alone with Jack. And they had to walk from the bar to the reastaurant where we had gone before the show because his car was parked there. The evening went from bette Midler to this. Oy.
