Betty Blue Eyes- The Musical -Novello Theatre Spring 2011

I have never been particularly keen omn seeing this - the basic plotline does not interest me and the songs I listened to on the website sounded horrid. But I'm going to be in London towards the end of May and I thought I'd try and book and give the show a try as so many people seem to like it. But then I saw the ticket prices! They were obscenely expensive - ranging from £50 to £90 - and I'm not going to pay those kind of prices for a show I'm not expecting to like!

I know there may be cheaper options such as TKTS or Day seats but neither of those is a viable option for me. (I don't live in London so have very little time on the day of the show as that's the day I'll be travelling - plus I'm physically unable to stand in a queue for any length of time.) I think the "full price" they're charging for this show is shameful.

Where are you seeing £90 seats?! Prices for the main run are £15 to £59.50, with a few £75 premiums right in the middle of the stalls. Even on Saturday nights, when they put up the prices a bit, standard top price is £62.50, which is (sadly) about standard for a West End musical.

Bloody hell Bob, where do you get your theatre tickets from- the Harrod's Ticket Desk!
Come on!

By May you'll be walking away with brilliant seats from TKTS no fear, any night of the week.

For Saturday May 21 - the night I will be in London - prices for seats in the stalls were:
SEETICKETS: £71-25
TICKETMASTER: £92-75 (FRONT STALLS)
£67-80 (MIDDLE STALLS)
£53-70 (REAR STALLS)
VIA THE SHOW'S WEBSITE: £62-50

I can't do circle with my back problem/arthritis and, as I said before, queuing at TKTS is literally impossible if the waiting time is more than 5 minutes (the longest I can stand in line pain free).

Delfont Mackintosh is the agent via the show's website - which was £62-50. I'd be prreparfed to pay that for a show I desperately want to see. But my instincts tell me I will not like this show and will be suicidal if I pay that sort of price and then hate it. lol

And I can't really wait until May coz if I do that and still can't get a decent price it will be too late to get a decent seat for anything else either. I'll find something else to see that night that is less ridiculously priced.

Saw this on Friday... FAB.U.LOUS

A truly British musical! Few loose ends to tie up staging wise and voices to pick up... but this show is my highlight so far this year.

The score is beautiful and features new numbers that i predict will become musical theatre standards, performed for years to come and covered by many at cabarets and on albums! Already Liza has bagged "nobody" for her concert apparently.

The pig is fabulous, the set works very well (who knew the Novello was so big and deep?!) beautifully crafted show. Sarah Lancashire knocks it out the park - she will sweep the awards next year I predict.

Adrian Scarbrough's role needs more outlining and he needs to sing out more - a lot of lines get lost. Ann Emery does what she does best and Reece plays his role well, but his comic capabilities just don't match Sarah's whose lines made me howl with laughter.

A real treat musical that I hope survives. It will go down well with luvvies and older ladies I feel, but that's what happened with Drowsy and look what happened there. Word of mouth will play a huge role, so they need to do what Drowsy didn't and put the word out there and don't do stupid prices with seats mid week or for groups.

I cannot wait to see this show again - Betty is the Queen of London and long may she rein.

Last I heard was that it had really picked from having almost no advance to ticking along pretty fine.

I was in London last week and there was no queue at TKTS on either of the two days. I got a fabulous stalls seat for Betty Blue Eyes for £38 well into the afternoon. The show was wonderful - so warm, funny and tuneful - would love to see it again!

I also, two weeks ago yesterday on a Saturday morning got tix at TKTS for this with no wait....and they were also around the 39 Pound range.

Interestingly enough, I was in Idyllwild, California yesterday (an hour southwest of Palm Springs in the mountains) and a store was selling mah jong tiles, with sayings on the back. And there was one that was red, had the crown, and said "Keep Calm and Carry On". I had to buy it....and asked the shopkeeper if she knew what it meant.....she had no idea, so I had a good time telling her.

I cannot wait for the cast recording!
