An interesting article however I disagree with his basic premise that "Now many Tony pundits are proclaiming that LuPone's "Gypsy" has this year's best-revival Tony in the bag, too." Sometimes I think journalists just make these things up.
I guess I thought it was going to be a close call between Sunday and South Pacific (with South Pacific having the edge).
Beware, 'Gypsy' fans: Will a 'South Pacific' tsunami hit the Tonys?

Ehh. Crummy article. He posts 2 bootleg videos and doesn't even know they are from two separate productions.

I hate it when these oscar sites try and predict the Tony's. I hardly see what baring the tony's the original productions won has to do with today. If there is any, he should explain it. Plus he links to that site (Tony Awards Haven) which means that people who know nothing about theatre will get there predictions from there and, ick.
Steve2, I also think the basic premise of the article is flawed and inaccurate. He's based the entire article on 2 people's opinions -- one of our fellow posters (RadioTV2) who also posts over there, and a blog from New York magazine (which can't even spell Kelli O'Hara's name right). Those 2 people's opinions are of course valid opinions, but I think they are outliers. I think most people believe South Pacific has a better chance of winning than Gypsy.
Tom O'Neil's specialty is the Oscars -- he's only reporting on the Tonys because it's another awards show, but I don't think he has any first-hand knowledge (I think he's based out of LA). I'm not sure he's using ideal sources -- he has a number of articles based on David Sheward's opinion, but Sheward isn't following the race close enough to know that Deanna Dunagan was placed in the lead category back in January, so I'm not sure I would use him as my main source.
