I COULD SEE JENNIFER HUDSON TACKLE THE PART, BUT THAT WOULD TOTALLY GO AGAINST ME NOT WANTING ANYONE FROM AI IN THIS MOVIE...AND IF BEYONCE IS GOING TO PLAY ANY PART IN THIS MOVIE IT'S GOING TO BE DEENA NOT EFFIE

I am with whoever is doing the protest. Aint nothin wrong with homegirl being on AI. She didn't win so who cares. Give her a shot at least. I don't want anyone from star search in the movie. Don't act like alot of people weren't on that show. There is no difference. They cannot put beyonce in this. Bill Condon will probably just bite off of what Rob Marshall did in Chicago.

Bill Condon is a talented writer and I am positive when he directs "DREAMGIRLS" that he's not gonna be "biting" off anyone when he does it either. And I'm sorry to burst all of you Beyoncé haters bubbles but "homegirl" is being very seriously considered for this movie.

Ron - since Mr. Marshall was working from Mr. Condon's screenplay, that may not be a bad thing.

I don't hat beyonce. I like her. I just don't want her in the movie. Why don't they just cast a whole line up of pop stars. Ashanti beyonce and ciara. It seems like he is going for money and not art. And directing and writing are different. He did not give Rob the camera angles and the backgrounds and choregraphy.

Going back to Effie's weight, whether she is or isn't, she still is not as beautiful as Deena. Isn't there a line early on, something like "No one can see me on records" that implies Deena is more beautiful?
If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

And talking about needing the acting chops. I don't count Austin Powers or the pink panther as anything. She played herself in these movies. An R&B singer a real stretch.

The line is question is spoken by Effie about Deena and it reads: "No one can see her on a record". The other line she Effie says in this scene is "Deena's beautiful. She's always been beautiful, but I've got the voice Curtis, I've got the talent..."

I can't really elaborate about Jennifer Hudson as "Effie". I know some BWWers were tossing her name around as someone they would like to see in the role.

If anyone does NOT belong in this movie it's Missy Elliot.

As far as Jennifer Holliday is concerned she is the bar every other actress who takes on this role will be measured against. She was absolutely PHENOMENAL in this role, and I had the honor to witness her in the role 4 times. Three times on Broadway and once a couple of years ago in Atlanta. In many ways Jennifer Holliday is "DREAMGIRLS" and whoever is cast as "Effie" has some very big shoes to fill.

I bet they get Kristen Chenoweth to do "Cadillac Car" diamond studded neckbrace and all.

Gotham asked me to elaborate on Jennifer Holliday and Jennifer Hudson. I just stated my reasons as to why I couldn't elaborate on Hudson in my post.

And I DID elaborate on Holliday.

Ask yourSELF why Missy Elliot is wrong in this movie. You seriously don't think she's even capable of tackling the role of "Effie"...she can't sing it, unless the producers slum and get someone to dub her.

A better question I pose to you is this:

Who do YOU see Missy Elliot playing in this movie?

Missy is good for background vocals and maybe some solos on her own CDz but she is not Effie.

I don't. If someone is going to be in this movie that i don't want to see at least let it be entertaining. I would get a good laugh seeing her in this film in her adidas.

Well I hate to piss on your party Ron but there is a very strong possibility Beyoncé will be cast in this movie before Missy and her Adidas are even CONSIDERED.

Why does it have to be a pop artist?
Well Ron we're not talking "La Traviata" here, it's "Dreamgirls" and the show IS about POP music isn't it and it's characters are primarily POP/R&B singers aren't they?
