Oh my god, Kirk Cameron as Jean Valjean? How lucky are we???
Kate Burton from Grey's Anatomy is in SA right now and it seeing how good she was on stage makes me appreciate her craziness on TV...if that makes any sense.
I thought Huey Lewis was great in Chicago.
I was also really impressed with Tamyra Grey in RENT. Im not sure how much of a celebrity she's considered. But she's more of a celebrity than I am, so she counts for me:)

I know a lot of people will probably disagree with me, but I really enjoyed Rue McClanahan in Wicked! I was also surprised that Ashley Parker Angel didn't suck!
Wait, since when is Betty Buckley a "celebrity"?
Plus, some of the people mentioned on this thread: Kate Burton, Kristin Chenoweth, Neil Patrick Harris, Bebe Neuwirth to mention a few started their careers on stage, have been committed to stage for a while, found fame on the stage, and later went to find success in other media. It's not like Julia Roberts, Julianne Moore, Claire Danes, etc.
Ogunquit, Maine did a recent prodution of The Full Monty, I wanted to go for Hunter Foster (he was amazing!) but Sally Struthers was also in it as Jeanette. I didn't remember who she was til mom pointed her out to me (and still does when ever shes on TV now) But anyways, she was such a riot! Her stage presences was just so natural. I love the theatre moments where the audience goes wild when they just SEE a person. Everyone was cheering the first time she was on stage, and she was just as infectious every other time she was on stage! Loved her!
I'm not sure where David Hyde Pierce started, but I got to see him in Curtians this past summer, and he amazing! He was so funny, he has such good comic skills. He is def amazing on the stage or screen.
I also saw Tom Wopat in 42nd Street (again, I wasn't sure who he was til my parents told me) but I loved him in the musical. He was a very good performer.
I'm pretty sure those are the only non Bway celebrities I saw.
Harvey Feinstein in 'Hairspray'. I saw it around about the first Saturday after it opened and i remember being blown away by him and thinking id never seen someone have so much fun on stage as he was up there. He arrived at the theatre about 1hr before the show and walked the returns line saying to them all ' gee i hope you all get tickets cos i want you all to see me, good luck' -talk about winning your audience over. Bette Midler was in the audience that night.
Tony Danza surprised me during his run in The Producers last year.
Until then, I didn't know that you didn't need any talent or skill whatsoever to be a part of a theatrical profession.
