Have been seeing this version of Big, the Musical popping up around.
Any ideas when the rights will be made public?
No idea but does anyone else find it completely Mystifying that someone would do BIG, where the entire show resolves around the visual gag of an adult acting like a kid, with....kids playing adults?
Our high school did this last year and they did a great job, but I wasn't crazy about the show itself. They used very young looking high schoolers as the kids--even brought in some younger ones--but it wasn't a kid playing an adult who is really a kid that was so bad, it was just creepy watching Josh being seduced by his co-worker. I could picture the NY Post headline as I was watching it. Jailbait Boy-toy: Love-starved MacMillan Toy Exec unknowingly seduces tween...
Of course much of high school theatre involves a suspension of disbelief as fresh faced teens play old ladies and such...
I will have it on record that Big is my all time favorite show. Only because it was the first show that introduced me to the world of Broadway theatre and my first show. Is it flawed, yes, but that's a long conversation for another day.
With that said, I am very unsure of how this would work with a kid playing Big Josh. After all, isn't the point of the humor in this show to see a kid trapped in an adult's body?
