How much interest is there, about Billy's 2008 Broadway opening.I might even venture over the pond,to see if it's as good as the original.Let's hope they don't Americanise it.

I'm SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!

I wish I could fly over to see the original, but I can't afford to. So I have to settle for Broadway. But I can't wait. I love Billy Elliot!

But I wonder if the setting becomes rural South Carolina :)

I'm really looking forward to it, and I imagine the changes will center on adding a few lines to explain the miners' strike more, and eliminating some jokes that most Americans wouldn't get.

Billy Elliot is the most amazing show I have ever seen and I cannot wait to see it in the US.

My sister-in-law's friend's son (whom I met when I saw ACL in SF) got the audition in NYC and was selected to attend Billy Elliot Academy for six months. They are sending all his family to London to see the show first. He is a talented dancer who won numerous awards in national dance competitions. I'm hoping he'll be Billy on Broadway!

I recently rented the movie, I loved it!
So the musical should be as good, or even better.

Off topick, the actor playing Billy is so cute! And he might be over 18yo by now, anyone care to post pix of his?

Muscle, if you are talking about the movie, yes, Jamie Bell is very cute nowadays ! He has quite a good carrer, in contrast with most child actors and he recently appeared in Flags of Our Fathers. If you type his name in Google Images, there are plenty of pics to prove it ! Hope that helped !

It could suffer the same problems as The Full Monty had in the swapping of locations and accents etc. When 'The Full Monty-the musical' went to London it didnt work because English audiences were expecting the same story, accents and locations as the original movie. Hope it works on Broadway- its a stunningly emotional piece that has brought me to tears on three occasions now. NY likes Elton John but NY didnt like Lestat, ah well! One of the Billys in London is an American by the way.

I'm really excited for this musical but does it have a set opening date? I looked on playbill.com and it's only listed as "coming soon".

A little swash, a bit of buckle - you'll love it more than bread.

According to their website, it will open here in Fall of 2008. I think Stephen Daldry may have even specified October.
