Posted: 11/8/09 at 7:57pmSaw BE last night with David on as Billy. It was my third time seeing it, second with David. During the sequence where Billy is dancing with his older self, the cord never came down - they did an entire routine on the floor. For my, a lot of the magic of that moment was taken away. What is the reasoning behind this? Have they completely cut it, or is it only with David because he is getting so big? (Which by the way, his days must be numbered - MANY songs were significantly lowered since I saw him early this summer - still a fantastic dancer, but clearly struggling to get 50% of his notes out)

Posted: 11/8/09 at 8:18pmI know that that part was cut early on with the u/s (as he did not have that rehearsal yet). DId you have an u/s for older Billy? There may have also been sort of malfunction, and was not safe to use. There is also probably a weight restriction on it, so you may be right about that. That part has not been completely cut though.

Posted: 11/8/09 at 8:29pmLast time I saw it, Kiril was on as Billy and the cord came down and he flew and everything so the part hasn't been cut completely. They do sometimes do an alternate routine on the floor though if they're not 100% sure that flying the boys will be safe...they test it before every performance since the mechanism has malfunctioned before (luckily no one was on it at the time).

Posted: 11/8/09 at 8:29pmNo u/s for Older Billy that night - good to know that it is not permanently cut. I told the person I was with about that moment, and he was like "Oh yeah, I remember seeing a picture of that somewhere" - referring to the picture of Kiril being held up.

Posted: 11/9/09 at 12:24amDavid has been injured. He has been in and out of the show a couple of times in the last month. I wonder if there is something about the flying that aggravates his injury? I think David's final performance will be announced very soon.
