there was an argument about filming the show and we decided against it.
its an (a) bad move financially for the producers and (b) it would take away from the magic
but i agree behind the scenes would be nice

They shud have a Making-of video! Showing all the auditions and the workshop. And then how the 3 Billys with their Michaels, Debbie and ballet girls manage their rehersals until to the opening/press night!
And then show like cut-out-of-the-show songs!!!!!

suggestions are suggestion. none or stupid. well... not many. ok, lots are but oh well!
so, yeah. i don't think they'll have problems selling out but if they were i would take a page outta In My Life and Sweet Charity's advertising (two bway shows for you Englanders)
In My Life had a massive campaign involving Sampler Cd's... cd's with three or four tracks that they were just giving away all over time square. they're were SO many people passing them out that i got five on a trip to time square to buy a poster.
so, if they were struggling to find an audience they could start passing out sample CD's... maybe enhanced cd's with little DVD featurettes but probably not.
Sweet Charity is a show doing poorly that has a website where if you buy tickets or refer friends to buy tickets or do other things involvin Sweet Charity you get points which you can redeem for tickets to see the show, backstage passes, cds, shirts etc...
plus they always have video interviews with the cast, backstage footage and games and previews for free.
i think that type of website would be great for Billy

Yea, and i think i am right saying this about a post (i cant be bothered to go back through all the pages) but i think someone mentioned about chitty chitty bang bang having some sort of bonus thing where they showed clips of songs and stuff. Well i think it would be a great idea and all!

Loopy- i think the BillyRewards.com would be a good site anyway, a lovely incentive for long time fans.
you sign up, than you start refering friends or other stuff and you get points which can be redeemed for tickets, backstage passes, autographs, CDS, shirts, posters etc.
and than there is a members only section where you can watch interviews and send in your questions and such.
plus backstage footage

yeah that sounsd great...i didnt really understand it when you first explained it. i thought it was for shows that dont make money. any way thanks for expaling it to me
i do think that would be a great idea

yes. it's just a fun thing for the fans! i only said it was for shows that arent doing well because Sweet Charity is doing poorly. But yes, it's a very fun site. i went to escape Hurricane Rita and i redeemed my points for a backstage tour! it was SO VERY FUN! i went onstage, meet cast members (Christina Applegate stars in it) and they gave me a CD...
its fun to see what struggling shows will do!
but it would be just great for Billy, there are people here who've seen it tons of times, think of this as a rewards for spending hundreds of pounds on tickets

Hey, yea that does sound like a good idea. Sorry but im a bit confused, is that site actually a real site or are you suggesting it should be made? If it is a real site it would be great if you could post the link!
Thanks,GMFan!! X

Posted: 10/30/05 at 3:17pmthe Sweet Charity site is real. there is no such Billy site but we all agree it would be a great tool for marketing and rewarding long time fans and attracting new ones

yuppers. like one time, on the site, they had people send in their questions and then they set up a webcam and had Christina Applegate answer them live and than they posted the videos.
it's very cool.
#2139Meeting the Cast
Posted: 10/30/05 at 3:22pmin a sense it's a TOTAL different matter. Because the producers of Sweey Charity and GOD knows what dreadful things they do with their shows (e.g. Chicago) and second of all, the show's on Broadway and I doubt that Billy Elliot (or any other Westend originated show) will follow the ways Broadway producers do. It's fun, but British producers sometimes just don't do them.

I suggest they make something like this

It's not billy elliot, but I think they should make something like this.

Posted: 10/30/05 at 3:39pmI'd quite like to see one super-site, with everything amalgamated together; message boards, clips from the show, the 'making-of' bits, pictures, and feedback from the cast themselves.

I have not posted to this board before but I have been following discussions for the past few months.
I have just seen the following advert for the original cast recording:
Billy Elliot the musical. Available on CD and limited edition 2CD boxset - includes 3 Elton John tracks, exclusive postcards and full lyrics. From 21 November
Does anyone have any further details? Eg how much is the limited edition and what does it include that is not on the standard one?
