Just got back from this AMAZING show. I loved it. Loved loved loved it. Incredibly touching and simply the best dance and choreography I have ever seen. I was stunned for the entire show.

What made the show even more amazing was that Billy Joel showed up at the end and sang two songs. The audience went absolutely crazy and there enthusiasm was infectious. His two songs were thrilling, enhanced by the fact that the audience were in the throes of ecstacy.

It was simply one of the best nights of theatre in my life. Does Mr Joel show up often?

Yes. I went to see it in LA and he showed up there too. One of my friends is in the national tour and says he shows up alot on broadway and during the tour. That must've been so exciting! I remember when he came out in LA and sang a couple songs. It was so cool!!!

Oh how disappointing. I thought it was special. The manager of the theatre said he didn't show up a lot. The audience were going CRAZY! It was so nice.

I'm not a fan of his, but thats SOO COOL! I wish more ppl that were involved with shows, would show up like that for their shows. Although, most ppl probably wouldnt know who they were...

I am not a huge fan of his either, well wasn't at all until tonight, but now I'm gonna listen to the Movin' Out CD. It was good music for the show. I would love it if people turned up but you are right, no one would know who Stephen Schwartz was if he poked them in the eye.

Billy Joel is really cool like that. Once he was in Vegas and walked by the Dueling Piano bar at the NY NY hotel and gave an impromptu performance for all around.

Billy showed up at the opening in Boston in March last year made all the local news channels.
Been a fan of his forever it seems.
He's also been known to show up at the hotel bar and sit at the piano and just play Updated On: 7/31/05 at 07:47 AM

A dancer might dream to see her name in lights and mean it, but all she really dreams is to make someone else feel the way she did when she first saw a dancer. And that is so beautiful-Anonymous

It was one of the best theatre experiences I have ever had. This was mainly due to the fact that I've never been to a ballet or a dance performance, so this was a great transition from musicals to dance. I will now be seeing traditional ballet and dance shows. I'm not surprised that people don't like this, it's probably not exactly what people expect. The group of women next to me were lamenting that fact it wasn't like Mamma Mia. Personally, that would have been my personal hell so I was very pleased.

Just a side note, mostly unrelated to the thread, but I want to say it anyway: the Movin' Out cast recording is one of my favorites. I mean, its basically just a Billy Joel cover album, but its great. I really don't like Billy's voice, but I love his music (I didn't realize it until I heard Michael Cavenaugh sing it). Ok, my rant is done.

That's VERY interesting that Billy came and sang in Boston. I was tetering on whether or not to go see the show when it comes to Boston on tour this season, but now I may have to go catch it on opening night - just in case lol.

That is too cool...what songs did he sing?

I'm a huge Billy Joel fan. His was the very first concert I ever saw, at Madison Square Garden in 1984. I was 10 years old and had to stand on the chair to see him. He's great...I've seen him about 7 or 8 times since, and got to meet him at a record signing about 5 years ago. re: Billy Joel at Movin' Out!

And "Movin' Out" is TERRIFIC. I would never have believed those songs would translate into a story like that.
