Billy Porter

Just came across his website for the first time and heard a terrific recording of "The New World" and "Spanish Sailing Ship" from Songs from a New World.

Curious as to what event this was recorded at? It sounds like the other original cast except with Jason Danieley as Man 2. The main reason it sounds so terrific is the orchestra. It sounds as if its a full lush arrangement beyond the original 5 piece. Any clues as to where this was from etc?

Alright, this is off topick, but now that you mention Billy Porter, there is this guy that looks and sounds like him A LOT in Spelling Bee, i thought for a second it was Billy. His name is Maurice Murphy and he understudies the role of Mitch Mahoney. He was so talented.

First of all, the version of "Sunday" off "Live from Joe's Pub" is ridiculous.

Second, has he been cast as the Lion in the revival of The Wiz yet?

...Seriously.

re: Billy Porter

You dont like the gospel choir on Sunday?

His own voice may have been in poor condition but the choir was amazing! A nice twist on a classic song I thought.

Mr. Kringas--
I believe the Songs For A New World numbers are from a 2000 concert at Carnegie Hall featuring new composers called New Faces on Broadway. Vocalists are (in order) Emily Skinner, Jason Danieley, Marin Mazzie, and Billy Porter.
