Wow how quickly we all forget, or I guess some of you just started following theatre recently (perhaps after a trip to wicked?). Two years ago there was to bea Kennedy Center revivial, and also the City Centers Encores concert version. At the time it was rumored that the show would have a broadway mounting soon after. Well the concert did not go over well and did not get great notices (too dated etc..), soon after the Kennedy Center production was cancelled.

Hmm. No we didn't forget.
But with a better cast, and without damn concert staging - it would be a great revival.
I still believe we will see a Bway revival in a couple of years. I am giving up on the thought.

RentBoy- I agree wholeheartedly! dated, as well as highly annoying. For the sake of those who love the show, I hope you get your revival. But persoanlly, I think it is long past time to let this show go away.

Ziemba's notices from the Encores! production (in case there was any question of her in the role):
Matt Windham, Theaterscene.net:
"Luckily, the role of the intelligent but wild Rosie was captured beautifully by Karen Ziemba, who also had the dancing skill to match the performance of Chita Rivera in Casey Nicholaw's choreography, Bye Bye Birdie's original Rosie."
John Rowell, Show Business Weekly:
"Chief among the delights of the cast was Karen Ziemba, one of New York’s true triple threats, who sang, acted and danced Rose (originally played by Chita Rivera) in her customary winning, super-pro style."
Ben Brantley, New York Times:
"As Rosie Alvarez, his long-suffering secretary and sweetheart (first played by Chita Rivera), Karen Ziemba provides the polish, conviction and good humor that infuse all her performances. She's the show's island of credibility."

Posted: 11/29/05 at 1:27amI think Karen Ziemba would be fine reprising this role, is she too old though? Wasn't Birdie Chita' second or third show on Broadway? Anyways, I would love Donna Murphy to play Rosie, she would provide such a great range, but I don't know, I want Murphy to originate a role already instead of being on revivals.

Posted: 12/6/05 at 12:44pmI heard on good authority that the revival is being cast around Rikki Lee Travolta as Birdie and both male Will & Grace stars Eric McCormack and Sean Hayes have been at least suggested for Albert. I have heard no clear front runner for Rosie or Kim. I think they'd love a Mandy Moore type as Kim for name value but that's just my own speculation.
