Blackbird Rush

Now that this is running, and I already saw one person talking about rush in the Blackbird topic I thought I'd open one for rush reports.

I feared it might be really hard to get rush tickets, given it has 2 pretty big stars in it, but perhaps it's not so bad?

What time did people get there and how are the lines? And what seats to they have? The balcony tickets are only $39 anyway, so I would hope rush tickets are at least in the mezz, or it's really not worth standing in line for rush tickets.

How is the view from the balcony in that theater, btw? I've never been there...

what exactly is the rush policy for this show? cannot seem to find any details about it.

I am SO excited for this, it seems right up my alley. Hoping the stage door isn't a total mob scene, I would really like to meet Williams.

I just got rush for tonight, and it was front row center, yay! :) There were about 6 people in line when I got there around 9:35.

Very quite this morning, not surprisingly in the icy cold. I got there around 9:45 and was 3rd in line, only one other person showed up later. (and 3 tourists who didn't know about rush until we told them haha)

Everyone got front row. They probably still have tickets left if you go later today!

Oh, then you were right behind me! I got there a little after 9:30 yesterday and was second in line. I didn't see anyone lined up in front of any other theatres either, which I'm guessing had to do with the weather. I'm also guessing it'll be more difficult to get tickets once the show officially opens and the weather gets warmer.

The front row is great for this play, but because of the subject matter, it's really, really intense being that close to the actors. (Which is what makes the front row so great; I just feel like I should warn you.)

So, I am going to be in the city on Mar 12 and 13, and since Blackbird doesn't have Sunday performances, my two chances will be on Saturday. I will be arriving in the city around 10, and should be able to make it to the box office before 11 or even 10:30. Would that likely be too late to get a rush ticket for the matinee? I'm a little worried since it's a show with big stars and that weekend will be right after opening...

fingers crossed! hopefully the matinee is slightly less popular than the evening show. I wouldn't mind paying for the balcony at all, as long as I can still see. if the balcony seat is bad and rush tickets are not available, I'll try again next time I'm in town...

I rushed today and there was only 5 people there by 10am.

I did however try and rush an hour or two before curtain on a Thursday before opening and was told it was sold out.

Thank you both for the insights! Also considering rushing The Humans or Eclipsed for that evening, too, so hopefully one show of the three will have a ticket.

I got to the box office the day before opening around 6:30 and asked for a rush ticket. He said they were out, but he had $39 tickets available in the balcony, so I did that. Between the proscenium and the railing, I could only see a sliver of the stage, but luckily, that sliver is where all the action happened. There was only one moment when they were on the floor that everyone in the balcony had to lean forward to see.
