It's been three weeks, and I still cannot take "Cry For Us All" off my CD player.

Every track is genius.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I agree. CRY FOR US ALL is brilliant. Next up should be DONNYBROOK, DOONESBURY, A TIME FOR SINGING, NEFERTITI, ANGEL...I'm sure there are others I'm missing...

I love Cry For Us All too.

And Angel.

But I've never heard the score for A Time For Singing, only that it's really good.

Angel was good. I saw Cry & remember it was very hard to get thru it as it was somewhat slow moving at times.

Thanks! I have a contract for one of the titles on your list, but haven't sent it in yet - it's a very different deal than I usually do, and given the sales on Cry For Us All I'm not sure I can commit to a deal like the one they want. Cry For Us All will eventually sell out, but it's a really slow go.

Hope the sales are better than KITTY'S KISSES (350? Oy).

My copy of Cry for Us All is on the way. I deeply regret missing Anya and Illya. I feel a fool but I missed that they were reissued.

Sorry that Cry is taking so long to sell. I've heard nothing but raves from my friends.

Drop me a PM about Anya and Illya if you like - I always hold back copies for emergencies, like lost in the mail or damaged CDs. So, I have a handful left of each.

I second the request for Doonesbury!

Although it's not the type of show that you would normally preserve.

Still, thanks for all the wonderful shows you do save. I've been a fan since the Varese days and the Unsing Bway/Lost In Boston cds are still some of my faves!

Thanks to Bruce for Anya, Illya, Show Girl, House Of Flowers, etc. And more thanks for Cry For Us All. It has gorgeous music and singing--it's truly one of those cast recordings that makes you wonder how this wasn't a smasheroo.

I have several things that are possibilities, including the title I referred to back in November, although I just don't see how I cannot lose money on that particular deal. We'll see.

There is one reissue coming, presuming I can do what I need to do to it - it's been out on CD before, but what no one realizes is that that release was not the original album mix - it was transfered to digital and remixed but never acknowledged that that was the case. And I knew there was something that wasn't quite right about it. So, if we end up doing this title, which I'm fairly certain we will, it will be a two CD set which includes for the first time the original album master and then a completely newly remixed version which will hopefully for the first time correct some problems inherent in the original recording. It is the latter that will make it a must have, presuming I can do what I think I can do. I'll know next week.

Curiouser and curiouser. What cd is out of print that could have been digitally mucked with? I thought Coco sounded really off. Woman of the Year didn't sound right, either.

The list is above, in the second post in this thread. (By the way, the rumored possible arrival from the list (NOT the two-disc rerelease Bruce latterly mentions) is A Time For Singing... but apparently there are "issues" delaying it.)

Time for Singing makes sense. I was waffling between that and Doonesbury, but that title seems far less vital than Time.

Thoughts on the double disc release? Might it be a Broadway Angel title? Whoop-Up was masterfully remastered and reissued so I doubt that one. I don't envision it being from the Columbia catalog.

As long as we have Bruce's attention, how about requesting CDs of the other remaining titles in the Warner Bros catalog?: Eubie!, Rugantino, and the fab revival of Stop The World--I Want To Get Off with Sammy Davis Jr.!?

I had no idea there are so may Rugantino recordings. 6 according to castalbumcollector.com.
Rugantino, Rugantino, Rugantino...

The Warners catalogue is all the same deal as Time For Singing, and financially it's difficult to come out ahead with a real possibility of coming out in the red. It's just the way they license - one has to commit to a certain number of CDs - given the sales of the stuff we've already reissued (most of which have sold out, but not all - all those are 1000 unit releases - Time For Singing would have to be 3000 - therein the problem). The market for older shows has so dwindled since I started in the CD business. In the old days you could put out anything at all and sell 3 to 5000 copies in a week. Not anymore, sadly. We still have a couple hundred House Of Flowers, the same for Show Girl (maybe less of those) and Cry For Us All still has about 175 left.

I have to agree with the header...bless you for the shows you got to us we might not have had. I'd buy more if I hadn't already bought them all.And as one who has had to request one of your emergency copies , thanks for that.

BK: Is the cd-on-demand model something that has been considered for Kritzerland? Or would Warner and all associated not go for that?

I was seriously bummed out about the state of cast album reissuing and the music market in general last night. Have you considered doing any market research to get a measure of how many people would purchase Time for Singing and other titles you have considered?

Bruce, was there ever an actual CD release of AIN'T BROADWAY GRAND on Bay Cities? I keep seeing listings for it as BCD 3032 but have never seen the actual disc.

Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!

I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com
